Canada needs more love/dates.  I think Toronto was the first to sell out and still no second show?

Looking at past tours, this might be the first one in a long time where there's only one Canadian date.
I doubt this is due to popularity, so it must be something else. Like scheduling, logistics and so on.

GNR has been good to Canada in the past....i'm not complaining there.   ok
Just seeing as how this single show sold out sooo fast, i thought the second night add-on would have been one of the first to be green lit.   Huh
I bought my scalper tickets to the show, so I'm there already.
I would add the second night though if it popped up.

Agreed.  This is selling well everywhere, so I can't imagine its anything about that.

And I don't think they play favorites.  In 2010, Canada got a handful of shows and the U.S. got nada.  Wasn't 2010 the year the only U.S. date was the motorcycle thing?

Looking at the dates, it seems it could be possible, but then again, you need to get the gear to MA for the next two shows there. Is one day enough? Not sure...

July 14th, 2016: Philadelphia, PA @ Lincoln Financial Field
July 16th, 2016: Toronto, ON @ Rogers Centre
July 19th, 2016: Foxborough, MA @ Gillette Stadium
July 20th, 2016: Foxborough, MA @ Gillette Stadium

And on top of that, if you add another show, you'll have five shows in less than a week, plus travel to/from Canada....

Like i said, might be logistics.

Yeah, 5 shows in 7 days is not ideal for the singer.

I wasn't assuming that was the issue to begin with.

This isn't a club tour in a van where you can do shows every night. It's a huge stadium production.

Will they have 2 stages, like the Stones do?

I always saw the logic in that, but that has to cost a bloody fortune.

It depends on how they are doing it.

If it's ONE stage setup going from spot to spot...yeah, customs makes all that shit a pain in the ass to deal with. You do NOT want to only leave 24 to 36 hours to get the setup from one spot, across the border, to another, and then set up again.

Often, with stadium shows (and even some arena shows) they have 2 setups traveling asynchronously. In other words, the stage in Philly would be heading to MA, while the Toronto setup is coming from the previous show (Pittsburgh), and then heading to NY (well, OK, NJ, but you get the point).  This gives everyone more time for transport and for the road crew to do the setup.

Yes, stadium shows usually takes days to set up.
That structure you would need to have two set ups traveling on the road.

Then there could be other things that you set up on the day of the show and take down straight after. Just like any arena/club show. Because those things don't take days to set up/take down.

It all depends... Smiley

I could see there being 2 Stages and Lighting rigs, yet 1 board that can petty easily make the hours long trip between sites and be setup in pretty short order.

Do you need to buy the Citibank presale with a Citibank card?  And if not, does anyone have a Citibank presale code?

Do you think it's bought? I always imagined the bands (or promoters?) were leasing the stage-parts and equipment (like the lighting rigs and video screens).

Most of the parts are rentals, usually. There's a bunch of huge, national, companies that do this (like MSR) and they'll pretty much custom design a stage layout for you, and assemble it from premade parts. This includes the lighting rigs, video boards,  and, often, can include a bulk of the sound equipment, too (esp the mixing boards).  I talked to a guy, once, back 20 years ago or so, who was a company rep for a company like this.  Think of it like modular housing on a larger scale. He told me they had something like 130k different potential stage combinations from their stock of parts.  I'm sure, if anything, that number has grown, and gotten more complex!  And the costs are actually not all that bad (or weren't, back when I "knew" this stuff...it's always possible they've skyrocketed).

The banners, stage dressing, etc....that's the only stuff you're buying (well, and a throne, if you need one and you're not buddies with Dave Grohl).  The stuff specific to your band and set up is really the only "buy".

Exactly!

When I was working a venue oh so many years ago, the big rock shows would usually have a bulk of the road crew show up at LEAST the day prior (which meant they really had 2 full work days before show time), and sometimes 2 full days prior (giving them roughly 3 full work days before show time), to do setup.

I imagine a stadium show rig takes at least ONE more day, on top of that, given it's size and relative complexity.

It depends on the production in question.
You can load in the day before the show and be ready for the show. But if we're talking about huge productions, you would need the extra time.

And yes, gear can be rented from specialist companies.
