Just a small thing,

Duff is now listing the GN'R dates on his official website, as Slash started doing on his previously.

Seems pretty close, I agree.  Perhaps that announcement is not far off.

Can you wait until the first shows to announce if things start that soon?

Yeah it still seems out of place. Unless there are shows in June too. All the other rumored US shows are July or later. Why would they play Dallas May 27th then nothing until early July. That makes no sense whatsoever.

Paul McCartney just announced dates for an arena tour in the US. First date will be April 13.

It is possible GN'R will wait some more time before announcing without pushing the tour start.

The rumored dates we have so far obviously don't reflect a full tour. There are still unknown dates which might as well be all through the month of June.

Obviously if there are shows in June that Dallas show May 27th makes sense. But if they aren't doing anything until July then the Dallas rumored date is very odd. I mean why would you do a show in May then nothing until July that would make no sense, We will just have to see if any June rumors pop up other then the current ones in Europe.

For a arena i think that's plenty of time. With GNR looking to to stadiums i think they'd want a little more time between announcement on sale and the show itself. If May through August or September is the timeframe, i would say the announcement will come this month or possibly right around the time of the April shows. Its possible they're waiting to see how the Vegas shows go before announcing the dates.

For the US I really think we are looking at a July start for the tour. AC/DC kicked off their Stadium Tour in August last year in Foxboro and ran through the end of September (14 shows) so I would say start a month earlier and squeeze another 7-10 shows in. Spring really doesn't work anywhere except the South due to questionable spring weather.

Most of the large Country shows have already announced and gone on sale in the July-August timeframe.

That's a good point too. You don't want to have a stadium show up north in May or early June and risk it snowing or freezing rain the day of the show. Not every stadium has the luxury of closing the roof like say AT&T stadium. If they are doing 25 cities starting in July would give them plenty of time to get in 25 cities with the possibility of multiple shows in some cities.

Not sure if the size of the venue matters.

If they are booking stadiums, it must be because of projected demand for that kind of venue.

The higher the demand, the bigger venues you can sell in the same amount of time as a lesser demand with smaller venues.

All depends on demand obviously. That's why i think they may wait until the shows in Vegas and Mexico. See what the turnout is. Then decide how much in advance they may need to sell them. I know those shows are sold out but that doesn't mean every seat will be filled due to many tickets in the hands of scalper pricks.

If they are unsure of the turnout, why wait until the time of the shows in April to find out how long in advance to announce the tour? Wouldn't it be better to just announce it today then?

I guess it would, i guess a large part of it depends on when exactly the tour is slated to start.

If they push dates, they can't push them very far and stick with the rumored structure (stadiums, on weekends)...because along about the middle of September, those stadiums start getting used on weekends by football AND (if you push in October) the weather in some parts of the country becomes crapshoots.  In the NE, for example, we've had big snow in mid-October, of late.

Someone at mygnr pointed out something I hadn't thought of... Hollywood Vampires are playing Rock In Rio Lisbon the same day as the rumored Dallas date.

That makes May 27 less credible imo.

I am thinking a Hollywood Vampires show will NOT take precedence of a huge Gnr stadium show....... Wink

Of course not, but Hollywood Vampires said they would schedule their shows around the main projects of their members.

Since they scheduled May 27 at RIR, I can imagine that was done after getting a green light from the GN'R camp.

Which makes me think the May 27 date for GN'R might not be accurate.

Yes, here's the source: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/hollywood-vampires-announce-first-u-s-concert-this-year-20160216

Quote
Hollywood Vampires have confirmed their first U.S. date of 2016. The supergroup, which features Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, Joe Perry and Guns N' Roses' Duff McKagan, among others, will play the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York – about four hours north of New York City – on May 24th.

After the show, the group will head to Europe, where they will play Lisbon, Portugal's edition of the Rock in Rio festival on May 27th. The show also precedes the band's headlining appearance at Cadott, Wisconsin's Rock Fest in July.

"We have to carefully schedule the Vampires," Alice Cooper tells Rolling Stone. "That's because you have Johnny's movie schedule; you've got Aerosmith; you've got Guns N' Roses and you've got me!

The Rock Fest is July 14-16th.....
