Impressive media strategy
«

I must say I am in large parts very impressed with the process this past month.
- GN'R website first shows a place holder with the bullet logo.
- Cryptic video promos at the movies. No logos or text identifies what the promo is for. WTTJ intro is heard with multiple crowd shots.
- Nightrain shut down new memberships.
- GN'R announces Coachella simultaneously with the festival itself.
- Website update, puts up the dates. The cryptic video promo is playing on the main site (now with the bullet logo at the end of it and the hashtag #GnFnR).
- Press release comes out, mentions that Axl, Slash and Duff are back together.
- Axl, Slash and Duff acknowledges the return in social media.
- Band members posting hints of rehearsals happening.
- Nightrain is very active, dropping hints.
- Las Vegas is announced, same process with acknowledgement in social media (Slash and Duff). Press release at the same time.
- Vegas promo is released on main page of website, contains same elements of the first video, but now with a voice over and clips of Axl, Slash and Duff.
What's next?

They are doing a hell of a job.
I was critical about that end of the operation for years and make zero apologies for such, but they are killing it the past month or so.
And that's just publically. They obviously worked a lot of this out the second half of last year.
Love it.

Next thing they need to do is announce that Izzy and Steven will be playing a "handful" of songs for these shows so I can go rub one out to the thought of seeing the original line up perform live on stage here in the bathroom while on the clock.

I can't believe any of this is happening.
I just bought two floor seats to a Guns N' Roses reunion show. Wow. Too cool to be real. Watta day!

It's pretty wild.
Like someone said last week, even just seeing the old logo again is cool as hell.

Also, all seem very coordinated.
Looks like both Slash and Duff are working closely with management.

I meant to add somewhere in the post that, yes, they are doing a bang up job. By the time the full tour in announced these tickets are going to evaporate the way they're promoting this so far.

Yeah- wasn't sure if they'd be allowed to do it (overlooking of course that AEG is also handling the Vegas shows)- but kicking things off with a pair of
SOLD OUT
arena shows just adds fuel to the fire. Brilliant...

I love how this is being handled... Team Brazil is really making a name for themselves on this one.
Since the UYI lineup parted ways in the mid 90's this is probably the most excited I have been for anything related to this band... Vegas/Rio was huge, but there really wasn't the promotion that this is getting (of course 2000/2001 didn't have the social media outlets we have now), OMG got national TV play during the End of Days trailer and we were finally getting a taste of new music... but as we have heard we essentially got a demo and zero follow up. Finally there was CD, which we don't need to beat a dead horse about, but we all know that didn't go as planned.
This is finally getting the attention and promotion that the band deserves... and kudos to Pitman for his work on the video clip, very well done.

All three of them releasing their tweets at the same time is my favorite part of all this.
Putting the band back together. Literally.

Do we think this is Team Brazil and/or AEG? With respect, I see all this media buying and coordination that's just about as difficult as moving mountains probably suggesting AEG is heavily involved.

I still imagine they have a strong hand in this.
Even if much of this is AEG, I still think you need to give them credit for taking over the reins and setting it all up.
Actually, I don't know that wouldn't even make them look better. No shame in paying for some of the best to get a job done right if you think that's what you need.

I think its more of the norm than the exception to have your personal management team (or band's) work with a promoter / venue operator. Never really one or the other is it? Just now we've got a package that the big boys are willing to support.
But in any event, its good to see that its working, I feel vibes at large starting to change amongst the broader public and these Vegas shows, before Coachella are a great opportunity to show the world how awesome they still are and prove that they are more than worthy the stage and the moment.
But for me to fully endorse the media strategy, I need to hear the boys on Howard Stern
