They played in Vegas to warm up for this show, but this is certainly the one 'the masses' saw first.

How was it messed up? I've been to 11 live shows and all have been top notch, I am not sure what people expect from this band....

The summer here in Rio that year was cruel...
The "City of Rock" grass had vanished on the first day of the festival... only dirty left...
In the first chords of WTTJ... a dirty cloud rose...
Seems like yesterday...

absolutely wrong sound. mostly sound guys' failure. guitars absolutely out of place, background keys and stuff all over guitars.
I heard the last Vegas 2001-12-31 was a stunning performance, but no recording is circulating.

Exactly, that's why I think they open Coachella with Jungle.  I think they could reach a RIR-like response.

Maybe you're mistook it with Rock In Rio - Lisboa 2006? RIR 3 was bad mixed, but not THAT bad.

Yeah, people said that both Oh My God and Silkworms were highlights. I'd really love to hear it. But more than that, I'd love to watch the supposed Vegas 2001 DVD. More because Id love to hear it in a soundboard quality.
