At least there's a reaction

Starting this only because I think I've seen this question surface in various forms in about 5 different threads. Hard to really gather people's thoughts that way. It's a legit question - If , in fact, some CD songs to make it onto the setlist...which ones would you see Slash's style working well on

Just list the top 3 in your mind that'd work well

1) IRS
2) CATCHER
3) TWAT - This one I would actually love to watch/hear the guy ripping through those solos

nah, his style is completely different. these songs' solos require totally different player. but yeah, it would still be interesting to see such interpretation.

-Catcher (i know he could do a better work on the outro solo doing it less invasive)
-Til (he could fix the 1st part of the solo in wich both fink & dj sucked balls imho)
-Better (no virtuoso needed for this song, you can handle it in different ways)

They won't play it but he could do a great work on madagascar, the solo on that song really lacks of melody & pathos.

Is the point that Slash's style and tone is different or he's technically incapable of playing those songs?  They're two different things.  If anyone's read the guitar tab of Slash parts, he can nail those 32nd notes as well.  He's no slouch.

I'd prefer Fortus to play the CD solos. I don't see Slash's sloppy/bluesy style in them. Maybe The Blues...

The bottom line is nobody knows what he will or will not play on.  My guess, any song that might be seen as taking a pop at him won't be done. So possibly Prostitute and maybe Sorry, (though Axl said at one of the Japan show it wasn't about Slash) are no-go'ers but beyond that I don't see him refusing to play anything from CD. Whether or not he's a good fit is another debate...

I agree. almost, because TWAT solo needs a skillful shredder.

I can play the guitar, not very well, but enough to see that The Twat Solo is not that hard to play. It does have some finger tapping but I think it can be played without it.  A much harder solo and way different in style and technique to Slash is the one on Better.

Ashba could never get the Better solo to sound good.  I know that he probably wasn't trying to play it true to Robin's original, but his versions were just awful.  The gig in LA where Robin rejoined and they had to restart the song a couple of times is the last time that song sounded great.

Not a hater at all. There are other GNR songs where Fortus/Bucket/BBF style doesn't fit, and I am looking forward to see Slash playing them, like KOHD, Dont Cry, November Rain, etc. I stopped liking these three songs since Slash left the band. It's just a matter of styles and tastes.

and hey! Never liked DJ Ashba, and payed 16 tickets to see him live! Always a supporter  Wink

As for Jarmo's personal hater/stalker, I will not reply him. I dont want him to be obsessed with me as he is with Jarmo.

TIL, Catcher & Mayyyybe TWAT.  Of course, hopefully he makes his mark on some of the unreleased stuff too, both on the album and live.

Chinese Democracy has been mentioned in the official announcement for Coachella. In my opinion, that can be seen as a sign that they don't ignore this album in the live shows.

So maybe it's an English thing. Just so you know the word ''sloppy'' is a derogatory term.
