I think Izzy from now on will be part of GNR but only from a songwriting standpoint...and eventual guest appearances. I mean...Bon Jovi for instance often writes with Desmond Child and he's not part of the band himself...just a permanent songwriter. Something tells me this will be Izzy's role in the band from now on. Makes a lot of sense to me. And that would be amazing...Izzy is a great songwriter but not the best guitar player in the world!

Best of both worlds, really.

It would also mean these guys are actually interested in recording, which I didn't really count on.

Not in a million years. If a new album/new music of some kind is part of the cloak and daggers treatment we're seeing, then ho-lee-shit, to say 2016 is one of the best years in GNR history would be a complete understatement.

No question about it.

We already have a high profile confirmed show and rumors of a nationwide tour.  If there is also an album coming, with those guys on it?

Suddenly the apparently bleak 2015 takes on a whole different light, in retrospect.

Maybe 2015 was already agitated backstage...even with some demos recorded! We don't know, several reports inform this reunion is on the works for 2 years so it wouldn't surprise me!

I have to believe that's what's happening right now.  Slash in that rehearsal space already, Les Paul in hand, only adds to positive speculation regarding something "new" being cooked up.  And there aren't THAT MANY songs he hasn't played live recently (Estranged & November Rain only come to mind, along with some deep cuts) that he'd need over two months to bone up on.

Axl's a smart man, who rides waves of positive energy into the studio.  With all the positive hype surrounding the band and whole album and then some of finished music over the past years...I could see him giving a nice handful to Slash to tear into.

Then there are the recent Izzy rumors...

I wouldn't want to get too carried away.  While Slash may play a lot of those songs fairly often, the particular combination of people who'll take the stage (assuming it is Axl, Slash, Duff, Richard, Dizzy, Chris, Frank) will need some time to get used to playing them together.  It'll take a bit of work to get it to gel, and they'll be wanting a mindblowing performance for Coachella.

I agree.  A lot of moving parts here, who's first show will be one of the most high profile in band history.

All the more reason Axl will NEED TO SHOW UP at these things.

Hope you are right.

If serious Axl shows up in April, this will be one of, if not THE rock story of the year.

If rhinestone cowboy Axl shows up, he will be slaughtered from day one and this place will be a motherfucking war zone.

So let's all pull for the former, for the sake of everyone.

The guy in the bedazzled (buttoned) leather jacket.

For the record, I don't expect that.  I expect him to be ready to rock and in good form this time around.

If he's not, this won't be pretty.  But, since I highly doubt he's blind to that, I don't think he will let that happen.

It was part of the 'layered' look... Leather Jacket, bedazzled Jeans, light colored cowboy hat, and boots. It was his look often in 2013-2014:

I assume that is what the original poster meant...

There is a side of me that believes Axl canceled on Kimmel because he wasn't in the best shape yet...and needs some more time.  I could very well be wrong, and maybe he doesn't really give a rats ass what he looks like.  However, after hearing what Slash told his brother (that Axl is rumored to be on a strict workout routine), makes me think he's working hard for all this to go well.  And from that picture that we saw of Axl a week before Christmas, he didn't look to have had lost much weight yet.

On another note, watching that clip of sweet child o mine ....I think that's a very hard song for him to sing anymore.  That high pitch voice comes out in that song all the time.

http://www.alternativenation.net/izzy-stradlin-is-writing-new-music-with-guns-n-roses/

here's the text. but there's some vid there as well that I didnt bother to watch
Quote
Former Guns N? Roses manager Alan Niven has claimed that Izzy Stradlin has written with the band recently, but is not eager to immediately be a full time member of Guns N? Roses again even with Slash and Duff McKagan?s return to the band.

?Izzy will sit on the sidelines until he feels like he wants to get his toes in the water. He doesn?t like all the drama.?

?I think he?s written with them.?

He added, ?Recently.?

Susan Holmes McKagan, Duff?s wife, has said ?never say never? in regard to Izzy returning to the band.

Metal Sludge recently reported that Izzy Stradlin and Steven Adler could be guest performers on Guns N? Roses? upcoming reunion tour.

?It?s Axl, Slash & Duff. And whoever they decided to hire for the week, month or leg of a specific tour. If anyone so much as steps a foot to the left, they will be replaced faster than Summer?s replaces clip-in extensions on tour.?

He added, ?It?s the Big 3, Dizzy will be on keys, Frank on drums and Richard on rythym. And Izzy will saunter in a few nights and do 2-3 songs. Adler will get a chance to play a song or two, and my guess, might even be done 38 Special style. With both drummers. I?ve heard from sources Axl does not like Sorum, and he?s also said a few dumb things in recent years ? so he?s not likely to be there unless he bought a ticket. Scatter in a guest here or there on guitar, or Bach singing a duet with the boss on a night or two. Maybe if Fortus breaks an arm or something, they might bring in Gilby for a run of shows. I?d also wager there will be another utility player or two on the trek playing keyboards, or maybe even some extra guitar. Mark my words on all of this.?

Ex-Poison manager Howie Hubberman hinted at Facebook at Guns N? Roses trying to find a way to have some sort of role for Steven Adler in the reunion. ?Negotiations are not finished. They are doing this the right way!! Right way would include Steven (in some way).

btw... whats with all the tension about matt?
He gave few interviews where he said he wouldnt mind performing with then "Nu GNR"... and he also ran into Axl at some bar in 06 where they were cool
