To be honest, I would love if Axl totally dropped the "CD/GN'R" baggage and dropped an Axl solo record. He's said if he went solo, the stuff he'd make would be more experimental and more instrumental than GNR's stuff. Not only would I be interested in hearing what he could create as a fan but I feel like as an artist, it might be really artistically freeing to do a solo record, without all of the expectations that come with the "Guns N' Roses album" baggage attached. Rather than crafting an album that would both balance what he wants to do, while not being too "advanced" for GN'R fans, he could just go all in and do the kind of stuff his heart desires. I'd love to hear that, honestly over CD II or a reunion album or anything else. John Lennon often spoke about how freeing his solo career was compared to his time as a Beatle, and I think John and Axl are quite similar personalities; I'd love to hear what an Axl Rose solo album would sound like. Just Axl and a guitar or Axl and just a piano and some strings...

Anyone else?

I don't know if Axl can get rid of the expectations if he did a solo album.  When Jordan went to the Wizards people still expected the Michael of old.  I think there would be tremendous pressure on Axl, regardless of solo album, new album, CDII, etc.  It's one of the unfortunate things about being recognized as one of the greatest of all time in your craft.  People expect you to be at that level at all times.

I think that he should continue with GN'R and the next gnr album.
I think that there is enough solo material from other band members.
And to be honest it's just a way for some "fans" to disband the current line up

With all due respect... the current band already disbanded all by themselves.

Lets' wait and see what happens in 2016. two new guitarists and the line up is complete again.

So if guitar player numbers 8 and 9 hop on board... why does it matter what the band is called as long as Axl releases new songs?

Pretty much.

Many of us are still in this game because of Axl Rose.  Not because we felt a real emotional bond with Tommy Stinson or Robin Finck.

Axl puts it out, under any name, I'm buying it.

Mine either.

But once you make your peace with it this first time, does it really change much after each successive change?

I think Execs have always recognized that Guns n' Roses means money. WHen money is involved there is no artistic freedom.

So yes, Im starting to think a solo album would be cooler than a Guns n' Roses album at this point, it would basically be created by the same people (Axl plus a bunch of guys playing with him), except there would be no shackles attached, there would be no bumblefoot licks added to ''make it sound like Guns"

In time I did have an emotional attachment to THe REplacements, and Robin Finck had grown into a full RnR guitar God when I saw him in 2006.

A thread started by a guy you fuckin' hate, and then filled with comments (even from some of the "good ones") with some uncomfortable truths?

Its a miracle this lasted 5 minutes over there.
