Silkworms

As I mentioned the other day, I've been listening to my RiR3 boot a lot lately and honestly...I think Silkworms was a really underrated song.
Musically speaking, it's a wonderful mix of punk and electronica and (IMO) is actually pretty catchy. People trash the song for having "immature" lyrics, but are the lyrics of Silkworms any more juvenile than those of "Back Off Bitch" or "Bad Obsession" ("I called my mother, she's just a c--t now...")?
Juvenile lyricism was always a part of GN'R and rock music in general, I mean this is the band that wrote songs like Used to Love Her, Cornshucker and It Tastes Good, Don't It?
IMO, Silkworms was an awesome, underrated rocker from the new band and I wish it hadn't been canned. CD could've used more angry, aggressive songs in a similar vein, and musically, it really gives an idea of Axl's vision - a mix of pure venomous rock with electronic elements.
Anyone feel the same about it?

I feel the studio version might sound like something in the same vein as Oh My God.
Hopefully we'll hear it sometime.

Hated it when I first heard it. Sounded like a parody.
But, then I ripped that Evader remix off of Youtube last year. Kind of got into it.
Yet the intro is still far too long and silly. But I guess that's to be expected when the guy in charge of sound effects (seriously, what does Chris do in this band?) is one of the main guys behind it.

Just how is the intro "silly?"
The fact that you don't like it does not make it "silly".

If you lifted it right out and started it when the music kicks in, is the song any worse off?
I'm really just wondering how much the GNR Director Of Sound Effects being one of the creative forces behind it is the reason its even there. Not unlike if your bass player comes to you with a song that, well I'll be damned, predominantly features the bass more than most of their other songs.
That sort of thing.

I guess when you compose a song you can craft it to your own liking.

That is a very true statement. Those who can't create, critique.
Or become insanely envious.
But people have their own likes and dislikes, and that is OK.
A movie producer once told me that any strong reaction to a body of work whether positive or negative is good.
Great art is known to illicit strong emotions and even start revolutions.
And Jerry Heller said in RUTHLESS that if the parents HATE the music, the kids will LOVE it!

Judging from the version I heard, think it's very much best left in the can.

That is a bit harsh. But to each their own.

It's got some decent guitar work, but it's nothing special. There are better heavy industrial-type songs on Chinese Democracy, and if Silkworms had made it to the record, it'd just be filler. Pretty forgettable, and sounds rather dated now, I think.

Personally I think it's crap and that the melody lines are some of the worst Axl has ever written.
