It would be nice if they celebrated the fast approaching 10 year anniversary of Chinese Democracy with the next 'Chinese Democracy' album.
Point being, re-releases are fun and all, but why tinker with that when you allegedly have a finished album with *new* songs ready to go?
I would definitely be interested in obtaining a mega re-release
Of CD, along with a correct booklet for my collection - in addition to any and all new releases.

Which release would those be on?
That's another discussion.
For example, Don't Cry existed in demo form before AFD was recorded, would you included that on AFD or UYI deluxe edition?
/jarmo
Great point Jarmo...I'm curious if there is an AFD era YCBM demo laying around....

Anything unheard is new to us, right?
Yep, that's what I meant. That's why deluxe editions with unheard material would be always something I'd buy.

10 year anniversary or Chinese Democracy? That is a joke right?
It's sad that it has been 8 years since the release of CD... and I'd want so many other things from the old days before a 10 year anniversary...

I suggest you cool it with the insults aimed at those who don't share your limited liking of GN'R's musical output.

I don't know. I've seen "special anniversary" DVDs of movies that didn't exactly set the world on fire.
What I think hurts the chances here is the complete dissolution of the band that did it. Hell, even before it came out the first time. Coupled the complete lack of interest they would have coming back and contributing anything of value to make the re-release new, compelling, or different in any way.

Really? It wasn't meant to be this massive thing. I just think it is silly that people are even thinking about a 10 year anniversary thing bro. That is still 2 full years away. And I'd want like 10 other things released before a CD stuff.
I like Chinese Democracy, but I just don't think it should be considered for any special editions. It's not really been out long enough right?

I mean I'd buy it of course. If they went with something from the CD era. Just with so much mystery from the 94-98 years... you think people would want that more than a 2008 album's unreleased stuff.
It would be awesome to hear unheard stuff from CD. I'd love that, but other stuff needs to be out before that.

People have different tastes.
I understand that many of you were away for about a decade, so you can pretend nothing has happened. But a bunch of us were here and we enjoyed that time.
No need for your silly remarks about the old band, their music or the fans who enjoy listening to it.

In Jarmo's defense (hear that, buddy?) your post didn't really come across that way. It did come across like you were mocking it along lack of demand lines.

I've not been away for a decade. I've checked this website and message board AT LEAST 1 time per week at the very least since 2000. I just post more often when things are happening more. So don't make it look like I've not contributed to this community for 10 years. That is very untrue.
I for sure go missing for weeks or months at a time, but I'm still here reading stuff. There wasn't much else to say really. With all this new stuff happening, which is HUGE... it just makes ya want chime in.

Anyways, to be on topic. I agreed with a lot of what people said about reissues or box sets.
For AFD I feel like you have to really be careful with what you put out for that one. I wouldn't include the metal 1999 recording they did or whatever. I don't think that belongs in a anniversary set.
I'd go something like this.
Disc 1 - regular album
Disc 2 - remastered album from original tapes
Disc 3 - As much demos/unreleased stuff from the 85-87 era they have
Disc 4 - Every song from this era performed live. Or maybe just a fancy Ritz live cd? I don't know. Just AFD era songs in a live capcity on 1 disc. I think going with 1 show would be best, and that would be Ritz right?
BOOK, some sort of book for a super deluxe thing.
Just anything obscure and different from this era. That would be incredible.

Should've made it more clear that it wasn't aimed at you personally.

There is your winner.
Let's face it, that Ritz concert, while great...not exactly hard to get one's hand on.
But suppose it was a soundboard version of a show from that era that no one has, or only has in shit quality.
Now, we're talking.

LLAS, Lies, TSI? should be one Deluxe Edition, maybe have it be like the Led Zeppelin Coda reissue where they threw all the odds and ends on 3 CDs, and add in Riff Raff, Don't Let It Bring You Down, Sailing, etc on there.
