I know the classic line-up deserves all the love and credits, but I never saw them, I was too young in 92 when the band came to S?o Paulo/Brazil. I was at Rock In Rio 2001, first time seeing Axl on stage, and man, everyone around me were jumping and screaming things like "AXL FUCKING ROOOSE" in the first chords of Jungle. I can?t describe it.  peace

I concur the opening notes to jungle live give me goose bumps. Montreal 2010 was special for so many reasons sold out crowd first time back since the riot, Axls voice was on fire rasp everywhere. They literally played all of afd except for 3 songs almost all of Chinese democracy and some staples from YUI and also the best performance of November rain since the 90's https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=U7RlgHYnQE0

2001 in Rio was insane.  The crow...his long screams...the energy!  Unbelievable and my favorite WTTJ ever.

Yeah, no one knows.  Was that the only one we never got a date on?

I agree with you.  Think it might be the best track, top to bottom, on that album.  Sounds awesome.

Did you actually attend any shows in 2010 and the last tours for an accurate comparison? I've heard this mentioned from online self appointed critics who don't actually attend shows.

Yes, i attended all the tour legs since (including) 2002.
His voice in 2006 was good, in 2010 it was almost perfect. After that it got worse.

Opinions vary, I attended shows from those years too as well as some from last year, he sounded great- as usual.

I was at shows in 2002, 2006, 2011, and obviously have heard audio from 07, 09, 10, 12, 13, and 14.

I would say 2002 wasn't bad, but it was weak and at times shrill, 2006 was a huge improvement, 2007 sounded the best I have heard, 10 was (IMO) just a level below where he was in '06, then it starts to go down from there. I think DX made the point in one of the reunion thread... the quality of his voice seems tied to his 'perceived' fitness. He looked in the best shape during that 06-10 timeframe sort of peaking during that 07 Asia leg. To me the 'baggy look in 02 and the constant long sleeve jacket look was almost hiding something.

2001-02 wasn't bad, but a total shock to the system.  So clean, and pretty different on songs we had heard him sing for years.  Yet, conversely, I think his vocals on the new sogns on that tour are solid.  But, perhaps because I didn't have 300 bootlegs of him singing them some other way to compare it too.

2006-07 and 2009-10 is pretty obviously the best he sounded since the relaunch.  And I can't see how it is not tied into him being in better shape and obviously pretty prepared.

2011 onwards...hey, wha' happen?  Totally out of shape, totally in poor voice.  It was like he was told the week before that he had to go on tour.

Part of that attitude and those shoddy performances are one of the better reason I think this line-up is donezo.  I see no real argument he hasn't lost major fire and interest in the current set-up.  And that was never him.

Yeah, its the only one.

My guess is somewhere in 1993, gilbys guitar tone sounds more 93 to me.

The Live Era info isint always accurate, for example the common info is that the first half of Patience is from Paris 93, when in reality its from Mexico City 93.

My other favorite Jungle is from Paris 1992. I remember being 5 years old and watching the Paris gig on vhs and Jungle came on and i thought that i had just witnessed the most badass thing ever. Grin
