Bruce Dickinson regrets not punching Axl Rose in the face

french interview about Iron Maiden touring in Quebec :
http://www.journaldequebec.com/2015/09/02/iron-maiden-renouera-avec-le-quebec-selon-bruce-dickinson
----------
asked about his memories of his visits to Quebec, Bruce Dickinson told with humor that he once
wanted to hit Axl Rose in Quebec Coliseum. Guns N 'Roses played while opening for Iron Maiden
and, according to Dickinson, Axl Rose would be taken to the spectators because they spoke to him in French.
"I should have come on stage and punch him. How could he dares talking to my audience that way? I always
regretted not having done so. "
and yeah I used google

GNR tried to get kicked off that tour-
It Tastes Good, Don't It? was written by the band during a tour with Iron Maiden. On a bootlegged version of the song, Axl Rose states that they wrote it in an attempt to be kicked off the tour. During the band's early days, they would perform the song live, however, during the Use Your Illusion Tour, Rose would sometimes sing the first verse in the middle of the song Rocket Queen. This can be heard on the second half of the band's Live In Tokyo video.

My French is pretty bad, and I'm afraid I can't figure out what's going on with the translation. What's the story? That Axl objected to Francophone fans speaking French or something?

http://www.alternativenation.net/iron-maiden-regrets-not-punching-axl-rose/
and yeah, two different bands, but I like both. I remember Axl said he liked their first LP somewhere, with their first singer.
these guys hate each others apparently

Honestly not a maiden fan, I don't relate to their music at all, makes me want to run to the hills.

With all due respect to both bands as I love both GNR comes first and iron maiden is right up there, I know when they were on tour back in the late 80s it was obviously not a good mix between the two bands with that said both have amazing lead singers and both have made incredibly good music. I'm sure a lot of people would like to punch axl in the face though lol but that's probably why we as GNR fans love him is that he does his thing his way and sticks to what he believes in whether we like it or not.

Sorry, honestly not a fan, don't like them -never did. Most of their subject matter and lyrics don't relate to my mindset.
I Was a big Aerosmith and Stones fan in the 80's.

and why did they try do get kicked out?
why openeing in the first place? makes them look like Faith No More who opened for GunsNRoses but didnt respect them as a band.

I still remember Faith No More being booed off the stage at Giants Stadium during that tour. I never really got into Iron Maiden. My former manager and I used to debate as to which band was better. He's really into Iron Maiden. Run to the Hills is probably their best song.

I don't see writing an offensive song to try getting kicked off as anywhere comparable to the stunts Mike Patton pulled, at the shows I attended Faith No More was not popular with the audience. GNR opening for maiden were very popular with the audience.

Don't think popularity makes any difference or what do you mean by that?

Some of the stunts FNM was pulling when opening for GNR-Metallica tour.
GNR was a rapidly rising and popular band when opening for IM, FNM was really overshadowed by Their headliners, so you really can't compare, like you tried to do. I attended some of those shows, people wanted to see GNR and Metallica, many weren't into FNM.

I still don't get the popularity thing. if someone punches me in the face it doesn't make much of a difference if it's some hobo or Mr stupid Donald Trump.

A non-story of what "might have happened", but it is getting FAR more press than the tour or book, which is why these little quotes are strategically placed into interviews.....in my mind anyways.
