GNR tried to get kicked off that tour-

It Tastes Good, Don't It? was written by the band during a tour with Iron Maiden. On a bootlegged version of the song, Axl Rose states that they wrote it in an attempt to be kicked off the tour. During the band's early days, they would perform the song live, however, during the Use Your Illusion Tour, Rose would sometimes sing the first verse in the middle of the song Rocket Queen. This can be heard on the second half of the band's Live In Tokyo video.

and why did they try do get kicked out?

why openeing in the first place? makes them look like Faith No More who opened for GunsNRoses but didnt respect them as a band.

I don't see writing an offensive song to try getting kicked off as anywhere comparable to the stunts Mike Patton pulled, at the shows I attended Faith No More was not popular with the audience. GNR opening for maiden were very popular with the audience.

Which stunts?
Don't think popularity makes any difference or what do you mean by that?

Some of the stunts FNM was pulling when opening for GNR-Metallica tour.

GNR was a rapidly rising and popular band when opening for IM, FNM was really overshadowed by Their headliners, so you really can't compare, like you tried to do. I attended some of those shows, people wanted to see GNR and Metallica, many weren't into FNM.

I don't know the whole story. which stunts did they actually pull off?
I still don't get the popularity thing. if someone punches me in the face it doesn't make much of a difference if it's some hobo or Mr stupid Donald Trump.

You are missing the point, you compared GNR opening for IM to FNM opening for GNR and Metallica- wasn't really the same situation at all.

I won't elaborate on the supposed stunts, but here's a quote regarding FNM-

Faith No More wanted off the tour for a while, and vocalist Mike Patton reportedly had planned to defecate on Rose?s video monitor, but before he got the chance Guns booted the band on Sept. 21 due to undisclosed disagreements. They recruited Ice-T?s thrash metal band Body Count to open all remaining dates but the Sept. 27 concert at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The mighty Mot?rhead opened for the last three nights, including the Los Angeles performance.

I really like both Maiden and Guns (probably prefer Maiden), I wonder what a show with the two bands would be like now.

Hm, perhaps you're missing the point. I don't know what you mean? Two bands opened for another band. Both openeing bands didn't behave too grateful. If GNR had a problem with Iron Maiden, why open for them? same applies to Faith No More.

Not exactly similar situations.

GN'R was largely unknown at this point and whoever booked that opening slot for GN'R probably assumed it was a good idea to get GN'R out there playing to bigger audiences.
Faith No More had already had taste of some success when they were asked to open for GN'R. Remember that video for the song Epic?

yeah, I know. but I'm getting quite confused because Emily somehow states the opposite.

"at the shows I attended Faith No More was not popular with the audience. GNR opening for maiden were very popular with the audience."

To be honest, I can't imagine that GNR (meaning everyone from Axl to Steven) didn't know anything about the management's choice. perhaps Faith No More didn't know either but had to do the tour (just as GNR) because management thought it was a good idea (playing to bigger audiences and enhancing the listernership) and the contracts where already signed.

I wasn't stating known and unknown, I was merely noting that GNR was a largely unknown act, but proved popular as an opener- FNM was certainly better known going in as an opener for GNR and Metallica, but frequently got boo'd at the shows I attended.

Hope this clears your confusion up-

my fault, I mixed up 'popular' and 'famous'. english is obviously not my mother tongue. but my last paragraph still stands.

Fair enough, sorry for any confusion.

I'm sure the reality of the situation sank in for both on tour, prompting the various reactions, but apart from that I fail to see the similarities for a comparison.
