The way it's written, I don't think Slash said that they have talked to each other. Slash says things are not as tense as they used to be and that leads me to believe that the journalist assumes that means there have been talks between them.

He basically gives the same answers as he did in the "never say never" -interview a while back. That's not a bad thing though.

That's the video, straight from slash's mouth

Reporter: "I heard you made friends with Axl Rose again, how was that possible after all those years?"
Slash: "It was probably way over due but  it was very cool at this point. Let some of that...Dispell some of that negative stuff that was going on for so long"

I have been thinking that Slash may be back in GNR for awhile now. I don't think it will be a full GNR reunion but more like the existing band and Slash. Honestly, Fortus and him would make a great guitar duo. It could lead to some pretty awesome things in the future for GNR.

If Slash is back it would be most convinient having Duff along too, with Izzy as a writing partner side kick since he is least likley to tour. I hope Axl release all the vault stuff, regardless of if Slash is back. Just release it, tour and play the new stuff if it caughts wind, otherwise just enjoy themselves and us and we'all be happy to hear those amazing songs featuring the key players again! peace

He doesn't straight out say that there have been any sort of contact between them though. It might be that his frame of mind about the feud has changed and he has decided to just let it go at this point.

Spirit, he would have said "no, but I have no ill will towards Axl" or something to that effect. He didn't say that. It's obvious from that answer that he and Axl have been in contact. Otherwise he would have phrased it differently.

meh....who the hell knows what he actually said. However, I would take Slash back in whatever form of Gnr any day of the week.

However, I personally don't think he should come back until Axl decides on a full on reunion. There is too much money to be made with a full on. Do you half ass it or go big? I am talking touring money. Record sales don't mean shit now unless you are Taylor Swift. A new Gnr album with Slash on it, now, won't mean shit. Everybody knows where the big money lies....gotta get your ducks in a row first.

Thus, Ax needs to complete his Chinese vision...work it a little, tour it. Get it off his chest then throw out his ace and they all ride off into the sunset...medicare, sweet tea, and cornbread as Hank Williams Jr put it.  Grin

We have gotten our hopes up about things before ? based on misinterpretation.

I'm not saying Slash meant this or that, but I won't jump to conclusions.

Slash basically said it was very cool at this point to let go of some of that negative stuff. Imo that can be interpreted in different ways (if they've talked or not), I don't think it's obvious.

The reporter said  "made  friends" and Slash was responding to that. Implying that they in fact have either met to talk or communicated otherwise. If it was just not holding any  grudges and don't caring about old arguments, it was an odd way of responding. Because letting go of grudges  you can do on your own. To be friends  requires some  degree of symmetrical interaction between  two parties?

Exactly! He would have used different words. Also he didn't want to answer the question of GNR reuniting. So that  means that they have been in contact,  but there might still be some tension on that front. Point is though they've been in contact.

It's a step in the right direction even if it means they're not planning on working together.

I'm not discarding the idea of them talking together, I'm just saying that to me it's not definite, based on this. Remember that Slash was saying basically the same thing in an interview a couple of months ago ? that there isn't as much negative energy between the two of them as it used to be, but they haven't talked in years.

About the words being used in the interview... As you said, it's the interviewer saying "friends", not Slash. I have seen several celeb interviews where journalists not having English as their first language asking questions that aren't coming off exactly as intended, but the person answering is just going with it, understanding the gist of what was meant.

I'll reserve any conclusion until either of them says so themselves, that they're talking to each other again. It's easy to forget how many times we've taken one little thing from something, then gone wild with it, then at the end only to be disappointed because it wasn't real in the first place.

Forget about music and business. Think they are two guy you love and they hated each other for years. And now all the hate and pain is finally gone. They are friends again.

I?m happy for them  beer
