Returning to North Korea was probably intended as nothing more than an obvious distraction from Cohen’s highly damaging testimony that our good Senator is quieter than a church mouse about.

I have not followed the Cohen thing real closely but a few takeaways from what Ive heard about it since you are waving the carrot....

He was an attorny that worked for Trump for 10 years. Comes across as a slimeball and of low integrity.  Took care of some of Trumps dirty work. Now he is trying to save his own ass and make money any angle he can.

Funny how a guy who got prison time for lying to congress later gets to testify in front of congress. This hearing strikes me as a pre-  impeachment proceeding to see if there something there the dems can use.

My take is yes - all of the above - but based upon the man and character Trump has proven himself to be in public, the inside description of his words and actions from Cohen are a little hard NOT to believe.
Again - the guy is slimy as hell, but it doesn't mean he's making this crap up about Trump because Trump mocking a handi-capped person, disgracing McCain the way he did and his overall pig-headed egotism that reaks from him pretty much says it all anyway.

And I have to say - when Cohen told Jim Jordan (almost as up Trump's ass as Hannity) that he was doing exactly what Cohen himself did for the last 10 years..blindly protecting Trump.. it felt real and it felt true

I, too, find Cohen to be a slimeball.

But Trump has proven he's a slimeball, and he surrounds himself with slimeballs.  He has the worst people instincts (or the best?) I've ever seen.  Entertaining on a reality TV show...not so much as the president.

And it's why I find Cohen's testimony particularly compelling.  Just because it's also in his self interest doesn't make it untrue....

He surrounds himself with people who'll do, say and think exactly what he wants them to. Until they say something he doesn't like, then they're gone. It's revolving doors at the White House!

I think it's beyond question that Cohen is an odious little rat. It's also beyond question that Trump is racist, sexist and ignorant. In fact, it's actually personal opinion that Cohen is an odious little rat....whereas we've got proof that Trump is racist, sexist and ignorant! We don't really need the Cohen's testimony to tell us that.

Greenpeace Co-Founder, Dr. Patrick Moore, has been in an ongoing spat with New York Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) over the overly-ambitious Green New Deal that could quadruple the national debt. Moore, who has since split with Greenpeace, now refers to himself as the "sensible environmentalist."

The GND calls for an ultra-progressive bucket list of environmental goals such as the elimination of all fossil fuels, nuclear energy, air travel, 99% of cars and the retrofitting of every single building in America for "state of the art energy efficiency." AOC's plan even throws in government-guaranteed jobs - and simply hands cash to anyone "unwilling to work," along with healthy food and a free house.

The plan would also, as Moore notes, kill everything on earth:

After AOC suggested in late February that she was "in charge" until someone comes up with a better plan, Moore fired back, tweeting: "Pompous little twit. You don’t have a plan to grow food for 8 billion people without fossil fuels, or get the food into the cities. Horses? If fossil fuels were banned every tree in the world would be cut down for fuel for cooking and heating. You would bring about mass death."

Several hours later, Moore explained: "You are delusional if you think fossil fuels will end any time soon, maybe in 500 yrs. AOC’s attitude is unjustifiably condescending. She is a neophyte pretending to be wise. Her kind bring ruination if allowed to be “in charge”. (from the cheap seats)."

Moore has continued his criticism, calling AOC a "garden-variety hypocrite like the others" who has "ZERO expertise at any of the things you pretend to know."

While it is true that Patrick Moore was a member of Greenpeace in the 1970s, in 1986 he abruptly turned his back on the very issues he once passionately defended. He claims he “saw the light” but what Moore really saw was an opportunity for financial gain. Since then he has gone from defender of the planet to a paid representative of corporate polluters.

Patrick Moore promotes such anti-environmental positions as clearcut logging, nuclear power, farmed salmon, PVC (vinyl) production, genetically engineered crops, and mining. By exploiting his former ties to Greenpeace, Moore portrays himself as a prodigal son who has seen the error of his ways. Unfortunately, the media – especially conservative media – give him a platform for his views, and often do so without mentioning the fact that he is a paid spokesperson for polluting companies.

Also, he did not found (or co-found) Greenpeace.  That's a outright lie in the headline.

The guy has been OUT of Greenpeace for 33 years.....advocating for the polluters and worst of the environmental offenders...longer than he was IN Greenpeace (15 years).  And, interestingly enough, the guy representing himself as an "expert" in the field as a counterpoint to AOC hasn't published a piece of peer reviewed literature on the topic in....oh....3 decades, or so, all the while lying about his past associations with Greenpeace and misrepresenting himself as an environmentalist. 

He's an anti-environmental lobbyist, making big money to advocate for some of the biggest polluters on the planet.  I'm not surprised he thinks AOC is a nit wit.......or is poo pooing trying to rely less on fossil fuels (I mean...his firm lists BP AS ONE OF HIS CLIENTS!!) 

So, you know, the above article is pretty much conservative spun tripe. And badly done (and obviously ferreted out) tripe. It also, once again, ignores what's actually IN the legislation vs what the conservatives want to SAY is in the legislation.

I'd also point out that ZeroHedge...according to it's own founder (editor? Lead writer? Stories are conflicting), after he departed, when interviewed by Bloomberg:

"I can't be a 24-hour cheerleader for Hezbollah, Moscow, Tehran, Beijing, and Trump anymore. It's wrong. Period. I know it gets you views now, but it will kill your brand over the long run. This isn't a revolution. It's a joke."

Lokey then told  Bloomberg that:

I do find it amusing JUST how threatened the conservative machine is by AOC.  They're doing a LOT of work to try to discredit her...which shows JUST how much she worries them!

I just have to say, it's great to see that there are so many intelligent and compassionate GNR fans. With rock bands, you tend to get a lot of meat heads. I've never stayed on an AC/DC forum for very long, despite that band being the foundation of my love for music, because it's like everyone is 14 years old in there. I'm finding people in both sides threatened by AOC attacking her ideas and intelligence. Which I find amusing since she graduated cum laude from Boston University with a degree in economics. They just don't like that someone is actually trying to come to with new ideas and solutions and is actually trying to help the people she works for.

Honestly, it doesn't piss me off at all.  BUT, it's an odd visual when you're talking about elite athletes who are very aware and careful of what they put in their bodies.  And, you know, not a great message to pass along to the young people. 

We know Trump is a junkfood junkie....and I suspect that's got more to do with it than any consideration of "optics" (though I'm sure the spin machine will justify it as such).

I also think that, really, it's meant more as a middle finger to Michelle Obama.

Either way, I don't find it "anger worthy"....just a really odd choice, all things considered.

It's absolutely bonkers. I don't discount the idea though that he actually prefers fast food to fine dining! It might be nothing more than that- he certainly isn't the most, ahem, cultured man in the world, and that probably extends to his dietary intake too!

Can you imagine though, you go to the White House, you are in awe of the building, of its history...then someone wheels a trough of french fries, greasy burgers and onion rings round the corner! It's beyond parody really.

I disagree here. Been in the grind of working in the business world my entire life and I can tell you for certain that the degree and the schooling don't amount to much when you are looking someone in the eye and reading what they truly bring to the table. Most times, at least in my experience, that is built on their life and experiences and dealing with others.

She comes across to me as an absolute ludicrous person to be thrown into the spotlight as some kind of change crusading leader for the Democrats.
When she speaks she comes across like a birdbrained teenager.

Same way someone can listen to Trump speak and determine it'd be ludicrous for him to hold the highest office - I get same vibe from her, is all I meant.
& if you have never come across someone in your life who you just knew was in a position of power for the wrong reasons, I'd suspect that will happen sooner rather than later. & there is no way on Earth I'm either intimidated or would be intimidated if I met her in person.
