Give me a break, Regan caused the biggest widening of the income gap in us history.
But if everyone has more spending power I fail to see how this is such a bad thing. Outside of some thinking it is "not fair" that some one else got more money than them how can some one complain about having more money in their pockets?
They complain because their party isn?t in office. Whatever happens in the Whitehouse (even when it?s positive, like this situation), some will always complain. And this goes for both sides. However, they SHOULD NOT be complaining about these tax breaks
if they understand basic economics
. It?s a good thing, and most people will be benefiting from it.
I bolded what you said above. As an economics major in college I think this is why I get so confused over the opposition to this bill, especially the corporate tax cuts.
The best course I took in college was labor economics. It was fascinating. Some of the highlights for me were looking at the negative effects of tax increases (for both corporations and workers) on the workforce and how unions create artificial inflation and decrease our spending power. A corporation's job is to maximize revenue. If taxes go up and it is no longer feasible to operate in the US they will leave which we've seen over the last 20-30 years. Companies won't move operations back to the US overnight, but I think by the end of Trump's first term we'll see some manufacturing jobs return to the US that have vanished. The Democrats can say all they want about Trump as a person in the next election, but if this guy puts more money in Americans' pockets and brings those blue collar jobs back to the United States who is going to vote against him?
The coal industry is another story
es
I don't think those are coming back either. As for coal we agree, Trump is blowing smoke up their asses. Those jobs are never coming back and they shouldn't.

The biggest tax cuts are for the rich and that's not a good thing. You really think an extra $40-50 off each paycheck is really gonna help that much? Imo this doesn't help those who need it most enough. It hurts students, it hurts teachers and police officers. This is not a good tax plan no matter how you try and sugar coat it.
Lol yes I do think $40-$50 per paycheck will help that much! Put that away into a 401K and see what that money will be projected to be in the future! Hell even an extra $10 per paycheck is great news to me. Its crazy to me when people say what you're saying. If that $40-$50 doesn't mean much to you then please send me that after each of your paychecks via PayPal. I'll provide my PayPal info when you're ready.
I also don't understand how it "hurts" students, teachers and police officers especially. And quite frankly in case you haven't been following the news recently the pensions/salaries/benefits of teachers and police are out of control. Even if it did "hurt" them I'm sure they'll still be doing just fine.
I agree with many of your points on the benefit of the tax plan and labor economics. However, I will say that the pensions/salaries/benefits of teachers and police officers is going to vary greatly from one state to the next. I live in a southern state and work in the mortgage business so I see what people make on a daily basis. Teachers aren't that well paid and what police officers make in my town is a joke. To the point where I don't know why anyone would take the risk and responsibility of being a police officer.
And the tax plan removes provisions allowing them to write off things like school supplies and uniforms. Police officers and teachers are already woefully underpaid. Now they're gonna be screwed even more. These are people who should be among the highest paid!
the tax plan does NOT remove the provision for teachers to write-off school supplies ($250 write-off). it's possible that you believe that because the House bill would have eliminated this provision. However, the Senate wanted to double this amount to $500. but in liberal circles, all they talk about is this going away (you never hear them making the mistake of saying "it's even better for teachers"). they do this just to trick every day americans into thinking this bill is awful and that republicans are screwing every day people. it's all part of the brainwashing. don't fall for it.
also, how does this tax bill impact police officers? i'm guessing you are just repeating the liberal talking points that this bill negatively impacts teachers and police officers to make it sound bad, and to make republicans sound evil. but please let us know.

Wow, we're not talking a couple of percentage points dropping here. We're talking about a cut from 35% to 21%. That is a
40% drop
in the rate. You better believe operations will be moving back to the US. For you to say you don't think those are coming back at all without any explanation is silly. Then you are buying into the talking points.
I think this is a microcosm of what is wrong with the Democratic party right now. They aren't preparing for the possibility that this might work. They're calling it a tax scam, they're saying the middle class is getting the shaft, but in actuality its helping most all
working
people. You're going to see an increase in savings, consumer confidence, household income and some blue collar jobs by the end of his first term. If the Democrats' only strategy is talk to about how Trump is a bad person in the next election then we will welcome him back for another 4 years.

Ummmm no they aren't:

Police, fire and teachers unions are making sure their members get high pay and astronomical benefits. I understand this may vary by region, but up here in the North East its out of control. No sympathy for any of those groups when it comes to pay/benefits.

Are police officers required to buy their own uniforms or teachers required to spend their own money to buy school supplies? That doesn't sound right to me, but even if this is the case wouldn't you think they would be reimbursed for these expenses? It isn't like a teacher or a police officer is a subcontractor for the school system or police department.

😂 Tim, not sure many of us understand where you?re coming from. Doesn?t make much sense. It?s ok to accept this man. You are literally using all the Democratic talking points like mentioned above. However, there is one problem, YOU aren?t running for office. You don?t need to try and fool anyone.

Haiti and many African countries are in bad shape economically and much of the people live in poverty almost unimaginable by American standards. So in that regard they are 'shitholes'.
But Trump should have never said it that way. Of course the press and media is going to have a field day with it and they already have. This gives his opponents a lot of ammo against him. How can he not see that?
By saying what he said doesn't do any good at getting his agenda regarding border security and immigration reform thru congress as he will need help getting the votes for it in order to get these items passed. This statement will gain him no friends.
And it aggravates me since I want Trump to succeed in these areas and this will hurt his chances. We can't solve the immigration issues we have with a border that people can cross unvetted. So many of his predecessors have tried and failed and Trump actually has a shot at getting something done. Shot himself in the foot yet again. Dumbass.

No, he shouldn't have said it. Uncouth. and he's trying to address our immigration problem and these types of comments will not help with getting a deal done, as he promised.
But it's hilarious seeing the left be so concerned about Haiti after supporting Hillary. such hypocrisy. The Bushes and Clintons robbed millions from Haiti, and deserve blame for the lack of relief help in recent years. but thank god they didn't say anything mean about it.
Also, are we really saying that a country like Libya is not a total mess? it's a shit show over there.

Not at all. I have no problem calling Trump out on his nonsense. It was stupid. Incredibly stupid. Based on Trump's 'America First' agenda I think he is right to question why we should be so welcoming to immigrants from countries who are unlikely to contribute in meaningful ways. Some likely find that harsh, but it aligns with what he campaigned on. BUT he should not have said it the way he did.

If this tax scam is so yuge as shithole would say for the middle and working class. Try and defend and explain what Walmart did after signage. They gave up to 1k in bonuses except, you only get the full bonus if you've worked for them 20 years. The overage bonus is $190. It'll give 18 billion tax cut to Walmart. Something like 2% will ever trickle down. The same day they closed 67 sam's clubs stores laying off thousands. They are also removing 3500 co-managers a salaried position and replacing them with 1700 lower paid assistant storre managers. Stop pretending this will be so yuge for the middle and working class and anything but a yuge tax break for the ultra rich and corporations that might help the middle and working class a little bit. Trickle down doesn't work when will we understand this. Also what about the 500 Comcast laid off right before Christmas while announcing 1k bonuses that i am sure aren't going to those living check to check.
Also, today got worse for Trump with the report he paid off a porn star a month prior to the election to the tune of 130k.

Wait.... do you think corporations should act as welfare for people?
A business is still a business and they will cut waste when necessary. If something isn't making money it won't be making money just because of tax cuts. I fail to see why the concept of these tax cuts is so hard for liberals to understand. Layoffs won't cease to exist. Layoffs like these were trimming the fat. Where the tax cuts come into play is not making tough decisions on laying off needed workers or not hiring new workers to fill needed roles.
As for your last posts, that is more "Trump is a jerk/moron" that the left is clinging onto for the next election. Since that has been established by the left how about coming up with an argument that matters?

Of course he does. Him and Bernie walk side by side.
Tim, we can see your true bias and hatred in the way you speak. It?s not that you are necessarily against the tax bill, it?s that you just hate Trump and will argue against anything he does, or bitch about the same things your extreme liberals bitch about. We have laid this tax plan out in detail for you, and you still ?resist? in accepting the facts.
I?ve literallly seen 20plus huge corporations giving out bonuses and or raising salaries because of these tax breaks, yet you still spit your nonsense. First of all, I don?t believe we ever said ?yuge? (it?s huge), we said it?s a GOOD thing. But it?s not good in your mind because the corporations aren?t ?giving? enough? Such a socialist. Who gives a shit that Walmart is only giving there bonuses to those who have worked there the longest. Oh my God, how dare Walmart give bonuses to their most loyal employees? You saying everyone DESERVES the bonuses? You are a true socialist! We have seen in multiple posts of yours that you argue the tax breaks aren?t giving enough. Paychecks aren?t a big enough increase for you. Walmart isn?t giving enough. Seriously man? I?m not saying you are because I don?t know you...but you are coming off like a lazy, ungrateful person, who expects everything to be given to them. Socialism fails everytime. EVERYTIME. I don?t care if a company only increased salaries by 1% or gave a $20 bonus...its better than not getting anything. And stop changing the topic.
I guarantee you...if a Democrat passed this tax plan, you would think it?s great. And that?s a problem in our country.

You know what, I?ll leave you with this. Please read and let us know your reaction:

That site is a conspiracy pseudoscience with mixed facts. Nice try. So none of you find it at all awkward that after getting a 18 billion dollar tax cut Walmart did this? And no i don't think the tax scam helps the middle and working class enough. It helps the corporations and most wealthy way too much. I am glad that one provision that was in the senate bill was removed in the final plan. That was just ridiculous. What about the provision?
https://www.npr.org/sections/ed/2017/11/14/563130814/heres-how-the-new-tax-plan-could-hurt-graduate-students
. Was this removed? If not shame on congress, the senate and the president. For the record i am not lazy and don't want everything given to me. I am disabled and used to being screwed by the Government. I get less than $800 a month to live on and i only get that much cause i also get medicaid money from when i did work. Otherwise i'd be getting under $500 from my ssi disability. Then i get a whopping $150 in food stamps. So excuse me if i don't trust what they say when they say this tax plan will be so wonderful for those who need it most. Most of this will be going to top executives for huge bonuses. Hell on the 23rd i actually have to have a phone interview with SSI to prove i'm disabled which i have since birth. Can you say fucked up? The majority of the middle and working class won't see very much from this at all. And if people like our dipshit house speaker get their way they're coming for so called entitlements next. This is all the same old republican plan trickle down economics which has failed over and over again.
As for Trump someone seriously should've slapped him today after his non response to what happened in Hawaii. Instead of reassuring people who had to be shitting their pants he rants about fake news and Michael Wolfe? The man has the compassion of an ear mite.

You mean the same site that says NPR?s factual reporting is high and that it only has a slight liberal bias? Sounds like we should trust them!! Read the article. It?s a financial analysis using publicly available data. It even mentions that the coal industry is going nowhere, which is apparently something you cling onto.
And once again I won?t sit here and defend Trump?s actions in that situation in Hawaii, but don?t act like non-response is unique to the Trump administration *cough* Benghazi *cough*. Did you feel a slapping was due back then also?
I don?t know what else to say about the tax bill because you don?t understand it. No trickle down necessary because lots of those people are benefitting from it. I am happy to be getting more money in my pocket instead of going to the black hole that is the federal government.

Look at it this way - Do you want to spend your own money or give it to the government & have them spend it for you?
I am not rich or even real well off and I'm getting to keep $4K more under this new tax plan. I don't care if someone more wealthy than me also gets to keep more of their own money they earned as I don't feel entitled to what they worked for. I have no problem working for what I have and don't expect a handout from the government.
Sorry if I have to repeat again what I had previously posted but its BS to say this tax plan only helps the rich. That statement is just parroting the Dems who are opposed to the plan since they could never bring themselves to admit Trump did something good for the country. Trump could cure cancer and they'd complain he didn't cure AIDS.
I am living proof and not a media or political talking point to the contrary that this plan does help the middle class.
