A long shot, but subscribers to Classic Rock magazine received this email today...

Just a quick heads-up, but we wanted to let you know ahead of time that for this month only subscribers will get their Classic Rock magazines on the same day as they're available in the shops (i.e. Wednesday Aug 12th), as opposed to a few days earlier as is the norm. (So please don't panic if they don't show up on the weekend!)
It will be the same day as the TeamRock+ online version will also be available and the tablet/phone versions arrive. This is due to a record company embargo and allows us to be able to include exclusive content in the issue.
Thank you for your understanding.
Sian Llewellyn

Now it could be a review or it could be an album announcement?? Perhaps a GN'R album announcement??

I'm probably clutching at straws but you gotta dream!

UK Classic Rock? Mick Wall works for that and it is very much affiliated with Slash and what he is doing. That really nasty  Izzy interview also appeared in its pages. I would be very surprised if gnr used them for any sort of launch.

They were very supportive of Chinese Democracy. They did a special edition when the album was released with a cool additional "making of" magazine. Mick wall is only a contributing writer.

True. That was that little booklet from Chinese Whispers?

Yes, it was pretty big additional booklet. I remember thinking it was a cool thing to do- I've kept my copy.

They also did a fantastic write up of when GN'R headlined Leeds in 2002. I've still got it at my parents but it was super pro NuGN'R!

Took a quick look, doesn't seem like there are any 'big' rock releases around that date.

Could be a press release coming on that date. Since a record company has an embargo I would think it'll involve a big band. It narrows it down a bit, but there are still many possibilities.

It could simply be a review of IRON MAIDEN?s new studio album The Book Of Souls due out on 4th September I suppose.

What would be the harm in Classic Rock going public with that review a couple of days before Aug 12?

I think sometimes there is a date on when reviews can be published etc. If memory serves me correctly there was one on Chinese. It didn't hit Kerrang until the week after it was released.

But I'm keeping everything crossed!

That's why I think, if it's for a review it's more likely that a record company don't want any reviews out there until the day of release or shortly after. Say there was a big album coming out on Aug 12, an album the public know very little about. The record company might not want revelations about that album coming out several days ahead of the release.

Seems strange to set a restriction date almost a month in advance. I can't see the reasoning behind that.

Anyways, crossing my fingers for anything GNR related although not with high hope.

Never talk about religion or politics. It's just mind-boggling how we really grasp every little straw.

There is no indication that this has anything to do with anything. It's not about being negative, it's only realism.

They just had a very non-informative article on the making of WTTJ....

That was last months addition. I'm sure it probably is nothing to do with GN'R but thought I'd bring it up just in case.

I suspect this has to do with next month's release of the new Iron Maiden album "The book of souls".
A review of the album from Dom Lawson (who writes for Metal Hammer / Teamrock) was leaked earlier this month, and then pulled from the Teamrock website.
Also, the first single "Speed of Light" will get released on Aug 14th.
So my guess is that they are syndicating the release of Classic Rock / Metal Hammer / Teamrock online content with the release of the single, upon request ("embargo") of Warner Music Group.

My guess it has to do with Iron Maiden or maybe The new Megadeth album.
