My guess is that it's a promotional gimmick to get more people to join.  I am intrigued, but I think I'll wait until something concrete surfaces before re-upping my membership.

Well, yeah.  Smiley

Do you think that was their idea? If they then can't follow up with something intriguing after many new people have signed up, they've basically shot themselves in the foot. People will be disappointed and most likely never return.

I joined the first year while all systems were a go. I got 2 t-shirts since there was a mixup and they initially sent out the wrong shirts. A bandana, patch, and belt buckle were also included. Forgive me if I'm leaving anything out. After that first year I decided not to renew since the band was inactive. Once things get going again, we'll see.

I'd be curious to see if the forum activity has picked up.  I was a member, got the belt buckle, etc., and used it to buy VIP tickets to a show in 2013, but the forum then was really dead.  There was virtually no activity.  I didn't rejoin because there was nothing else it offered that you couldn't otherwise get here (that's a compliment to you, Jarmo!).  It sounds like they're doing things a little different this time around.  I hope they pull it off.

It's nothing mind blowing, but there's some activity compared to completely dead - as it was some months ago.

Participating in the contests is the only thing for me personally.

Looks like Frank will be answering some questions on the forum next week.

I think the forum on the official fan club is just icing on the cake.
It's not necessarily why you join, but it's a bonus.

You know you're talking to people who share your passion for the band, they spent their money.... If that makes sense.

The blood in the water reference makes me want to think fanclub single. Bands like Pearl Jam have done that. Could be wishful thinking though...

I think his point was, why does everything have to be "Cryptic."

To get people talking. It apparently worked.

Uh, Hello?
These are Guns N' Roses fans we are talking about.

The scenario I described was only if their idea was to let the word spread just in order to get new members without having anything juicy to back it up with. Now, I don't think that was their idea. I think it was posted in the forum ment as a teaser for the current Nightrain members. If it turns out their big reveal isn't something big, I don't think that's a problem, I didn't sign up now just for this thing. If someone did, I guess I'm to blame...  rant   hihi

If your comment about GNR fans relates to the "disappointed and never return" part, I don't think that's true. Lot's of people didn't re-up their membership because of lack of activity in the fan club.

That'd be great! U2 are also doing something similar with their fan club. I'm sure GN'R would have a lot of people signing up if they'd do that!

The BITW reference alludes to a new, unreleased track.

My guess is that the July events on the nightrain do not.

Unfortunately...

New album out in September.

Not necessarily a GNR album, but someone will release an album in September.
