If you want to stump somebody, ask them to name a second Faith No More song.

I do not know anyone who does not know a second FNM song.  nervous

Really?

So if we pulled 10 people off the street, what percentage of them, in your estimation, are giving you something other than 'Epic'?

And that if not just giving you, "oh, you know...that video with the fish, that one".

Their cover of 'Easy' was a far bigger hit in the UK

Edit - Just checking, five songs charted higher than Epic in the UK

This was a tour prank that happened absolutely years ago, i cant believe people are getting upset about this.
Have none of you ever read about stuff that happens on tour? Seen any Pantera home videos? Heard the stories of Led Zepplin members putting out cigarettes on womens bodies? Seen the Avenged sevenfold clip of the turd hotdog? Seen Metallica flip hundreds of goldfish on to the stage when the Cult were playing? Heard about the girls with bowls of M and Ms and an enema on that marilyn manson tour? Ozzy biting heads off doves and snorting a line of ants?
The amount of drug and alcohol abuse in GnR, dangerous shit that happened, slash pretty much leaving people for dead after they overdose... how much shit happens and slash claims it wasnt his fault in his book?! All this and a turd prank upsets you?
Really?

If so - never join a band - and definitely never tour!
Id stay away from any stories about Oliver Reid, Keith Richards, Errol Flynn, Keith Moon.

To me Axl is a legend and Patton is a legend. I find the story funny and if it was Axl shitting in Mike Pattons juice id find it equally funny. Infact i reckon if Axl shit in Justin Beibers juice you would all think it was hilarious!

Goldfish on a stage is a prank.

Patton's move is a straight up health code violation.

Hahahahahahahana endless amounts of alcohol and a truck load of drugs - but yeah a sip of shit tasting orange juice is the health risk! I presume a sip would be all it took to realise if not a mere sniff to see that it had been tampered with.

A prank is something even the victim laughs at, over time.

When is this ever going to be funny to you, the time you drank human shit?

Look, he didn't murder anybody.  But you have to be able to see that some people are going to find this well out of bounds.

You have not lived. I remember many defecation incidences, my favourite was the urine and soda stream prank

MIke Patton is just overrated...far from genius. He's just another one who tries too hard to be funny and he's not

No, totally disagree, the guy is highly intelligent and super talented. BUT, that was a dick head move and he deserved a fucking beat down for it.

I listened to all his work (a friend of mine was a patton fan/maniac) and i love it (ex: tomahawak). I was not talking about his music talent, I was talking about his character. What i mean is that he's the classic guy people love because "he's crazy so he's great" which is the typical mad genius stereotype (on the other hand axl is the typycal misunderstood genius stereotype).
So people will like more the crazyness of his work even if it would be a big pile of shit: patton did it so it's great.
The defecating thing is another example of "patton says it/did it, he's fuckin great, he's fuckin mad and asshole rose deserves it" (go and read the comments). And so on. To me he's just a poor man child who tries hard to get attention, spreading shit about (more) famous or sucessful people. He's a provoker, he always was and he'll always be. Axl is a more genuine crazy genius than him. But people usually have more empathy toward clowns than genius so if they both would do the same thing patton would be the great one, axl would be the dick.

Ah, gotcha. Yes, totally agree!

I remember Faith No More being booed off the stage at Giants Stadium during that tour. Axl should have smacked him around.

The takeaway: So basically when someone says to you "you are full of shit" you say "not yet, let me finish my drink." And then we're good.

Axl is a musical genius, CD proved that for sure. And of course you ruined your comment by throwing Dylan an Hendrix's name next to a prodigy like Mozart.  Anyway all this genius talk is nonsense, these artists just pull information from the implicate order.

I loved The Real Thing when it came out, and to a lesser extent Angel Dust.
More so than any other bands of that era though, those records sound dated to my ears.
Just doesn?t hold up as well. I will revisit King for a Day once in a blue moon, but that?s about it.
Patton?s side projects sound like circus music to me. Great voice, but guess his style of music just isn?t my bag.

Orange juice is my second non alcoholic beverage of choice, behind coconut water, so I can?t endorse defecating in a perfectly good glass of O.J.
Especially Axl?s O.J.

Here in the United States, you have a better chance of finding someone who can't even name 1 Faith No More song than someone who can name more than 1.  I don't hate them either, I think they are ok.

Meh, horrible pranks are the 2nd to last thing most guys mature out of doing (right after being horrible at relationships with women).

Epic was OK, but I really liked Midlife Crisis and Small Victories.  Don't know any other songs.

Digging a Grave is a great song, in fact King For a Day is my favorite record of theirs.  You can stream their latest Sol Invictus on Amazon Prime Music if you have it. Its not bad.

I would just love to know how Axl reacted to this back then.

For me, Hertfordshire, was the place; defecation central, and chunder central too. We even had a top 10 chart for incidences, and a dedicated chunder bush in Hatfield. I have revisited it since to pay homage.

Kinda typical "we're against the mainstream but will take advantage of it to further our own career" crap.

If you're so against that, show it with actions. Don't go open for GN'R to play in front of the biggest crowds.
But of course that wouldn't generate headlines....

Im pretty sure with labels, managers, agents, contracts etc - bands at Faith No More's level at that point, will get told what shows they are doing and who they are supporting.... They can however do everything they can to get thrown off the tour. They were against that mainstream stuff, so in that logic they did show it with actions..... So it makes the 'im against the mainstream but take advantage of it to further our career' point completely void.
