Pretty much a pussy move by Mike Patton.  If he had a problem with Axl he should have brought it up to his face.   Looks like someone didn't have the balls to do that.  At the end of the day Faith No More is just a one hit wonder who lately has developed a bit of a cult following.

Am I oversimplifying their legacy?  Yes.  Most of us know they did a few more things than that.  But to the general public they will always be "those guys who had that song that sounded a lot like the Red Hot Chili Peppers."

i remember reading in Slashes or Duffs book that they had a intervention for Pattons behavior. They told him to stop with the bullshit or they will kick them from the tour. And he did after that.

Pretty much a dick move, if you dont like who are opening for, find another tour. If not, show some respect to the band who got you a job.

I think Axl made himself an easy target for some with his rock star antics back then ... But like you said ... Show a little more respect than that ...

Guy deserves a beating for that.

Kinda typical "we're against the mainstream but will take advantage of it to further our own career" crap.

If you're so against that, show it with actions. Don't go open for GN'R to play in front of the biggest crowds.
But of course that wouldn't generate headlines....

That is despicable behavior. Wouldn't expect anything less from Patton.  Suprised he wasn't commited to a mental hospital for that kind of thing.

Keith Richards (maybe it was Ronnie Wood) said it best.

If you dont want to be famous, why did you make a music video? Why did you sign a recording contract?

I am a fan of Patton's work.  I don't think he is the second coming of Christ or anything like that but I do think the guy is talented.  I LOVE the album he recorded with Dillinger Escape Plan.  In my opinion it was his best vocal work

So Axl?s "bad ass"  behaviour is "coooool!! that?s the axl rose we all know!" ok but Patton making fun whatever he wants is not?

Come on...

No, totally disagree, the guy is highly intelligent and super talented. BUT, that was a dick head move and he deserved a fucking beat down for it.

I listened to all his work (a friend of mine was a patton fan/maniac) and i love it (ex: tomahawak). I was not talking about his music talent, I was talking about his character. What i mean is that he's the classic guy people love because "he's crazy so he's great" which is the typical mad genius stereotype (on the other hand axl is the typycal misunderstood genius stereotype).
So people will like more the crazyness of his work even if it would be a big pile of shit: patton did it so it's great.
The defecating thing is another example of "patton says it/did it, he's fuckin great, he's fuckin mad and asshole rose deserves it" (go and read the comments). And so on. To me he's just a poor man child who tries hard to get attention, spreading shit about (more) famous or sucessful people. He's a provoker, he always was and he'll always be. Axl is a more genuine crazy genius than him. But people usually have more empathy toward clowns than genius so if they both would do the same thing patton would be the great one, axl would be the dick.

When I think of genius I think of people like David Bohm not Mike Patton. He's a good musician and all but a genius? not really.

I know Mike Patton, and he is fine. He disrespected everyone equally in his day.

Any chatter now is bravado and self promotion.

If you want to stump somebody, ask them to name a second Faith No More song.

Really?

So if we pulled 10 people off the street, what percentage of them, in your estimation, are giving you something other than 'Epic'?

And that if not just giving you, "oh, you know...that video with the fish, that one".
