I kinda liked this track at first, primarily because I had never heard it before. But having listened to it the other day, it really isn't that good. The lyrics are awful and the 'aw ah' backing vocals are shockingly unnecessary! Great guitar solo though!!

Au Contraire, I can honestly relate to the lyrics - they are outstanding and very real.

Great song!

OK, awful is maybe a bit far! It was more the "I am unconquerable" line that made me cringe! So I therefore retract my initial statement that the lyrics are awful, but stand by that line being poor! Smiley

I save my cringing for truly awful music like Bonjovi and several others- GNR music is not cringeworthy in the least.

GNR is unconquerable  ok

Um, My World?!!

I do agree that live the drum intro adds something cool to the performance.

Then it goes to hell because of the pre-recorded vocals. Just, so wrong...

I'm pretty sure I'm not required to like every single GNR track ever put to tape! On the whole My World is garbage. But that doesn't mean I judge their whole catalogue by it!

On a side note, I've never been a massive fan of November Rain either. Just wasn't my bag - i.e. big ballad, lots of strings. But it came on the radio the other day and I think for the first time, I definitely got it!

Agreed on Estranged - tremendous! Up there with the best GNR tracks in my opinion. I love the Illusions-era!

The fact that you don't like something doesn't relegate it to garbage.

Taste is subjective, I don't care for bonjovi music or Kanye's musical offerings, but many do.

Could someone please tell me where the vocal skip/glitch/hiccup thing is in the song? I've been hearing about this for years and still have no idea what people are talking about.

It's when Axl sings "my life" during the "sometimes I feel that my life is a catastrophe" line.

At 1:19.

It sort of sounds like a glitch you might hear if you downloaded something sketchy off the internet.

I believe Axl was asked about it point blank in the chats and said it was not intentional.

December 16th, 2009 - Osaka, Japan @ Kyocera Dome Osaka

First live performance.
And it was pretty fucking cool...

It was done quite a few times on that cold Canadian tour in 2010.

Worcester, MA got to see the only performance of the song on the 2011 tour.

He might have.  I'm going strictly from memory here.

I don't know I see the logic in it being intentional.  I sure never thought it was a mistake nobody caught though.  That seemed pretty remote, I felt.

What I think he meant was that it wasn't a flub in the production, although it sounds like it.

Thanks. I never noticed that before, and I had to listen to it 10 times just now to even figure out what you guys were talking about. Very interesting.
