BBC doing new GNR documentary

Michael Monroe told that he was couple weeks ago in London doing some interviews to the upcoming GNR documentary.
He said this on The Voice (of Finland) show last week.

I saw an ad for it last night featuring Steven Adler amongst others.

I thought that too, this Friday on BBC4, who BTW for those liking many different genres has a great Friday and lesser so, Saturday night programmes dedicated to music.  Last night for example Queen doc followed by Queen Live, then a doc about Jeff Lynne and ELO live in Hyde Park, fantastic TV

I thought that too, this Friday on BBC4, who BTW for those liking many different genres has a great Friday and lesser so, Saturday night programmes dedicated to music.  Last night for example Queen doc followed by Queen Live, then a doc about Jeff Lynne and ELO live in Hyde Park, fantastic TV 

I really enjoyed all programmes!

Do you know if it's one documentary covering several bands, or is it a GNR specific one?

I know Fleetwood Mac are on the BBC4 page for the programme who describe it as

Radcliffe lifts the lid on the main reasons why bands break up and the secrets of bands that manage to stay together.

The Sunday Times TV  guide says

This exploration of the dynamics of life in a rock or pop band is as entertaining as mid-set dust between guitarist and lead singer. Music and newsreel clips combine with observations of performers, studio engineers and journalists to analyse where and how things go wrong.

Success itself is clearly dangerous:  drink and drugs wreak havoc, relationships turn sour and money and limelight are not equitably shared.
Zayn Malik is nowhere to be seen.

It would appear to be a cross band programme.

I won't dispute what Steven contributed to AFD but having got sacked, and moreso the reason I'd take with a pinch of salt what he says. But in this case I'll  keep and open mind and try and look at things from his POV.

I'd predict that he'll add to his negitive karma in being considered in the unlikely event of a reunion...

Note to self: stop it and say 1000 times, you must keep an open mind...

Steven commented on the drugs used when they toured with Motley Crue, nothing we haven't heard before. He mentioned that he is asked over 100 times a day when is there going to be a reunion. He did have a dig about his departure, citing that others were using and abusing, and that the band were looking to drop him regardless.  Said he hadn't been kept in the loop regarding UYI material, along with Down on the Farm which he hadn't heard before, and that Farm Aid was his last ever gig with the band. It was mentioned that Steven was so high before that show that he went to jump on the drum riser, and missed by about four feet, not feeling a thing

If so, he once again goes against the things he has said before. Didn't he just recently say that he had come to terms with his own part in why he had to leave the band. That he now understands why he was fired and held no grudges against the rest of the band.

Regarding that Down By The Farm performance, i dont buy one bit that he had not heard the song before. The way he played the song wasnt jamming along, he played all the right parts, but only on the wrong tempo and sometimes at the wrong moment. Thats called being under rehearsed. He knew the song but not well enough to pull it off.

I'm not in a band, so I don't know... But if the drummer claims he didn't know a song the band performed at a televised show, either nobody rehearsed or the band rehearsed the song without their drummer. Now, obviously they could rehearse it with a different drummer.

Theres a huge difference between i havent heard song before and i didnt know the song.
its comparable to a singer, who would sing a song and misses a couple lines. If the singer wouldnt have heard the song before in her/his life, none of the lines would have been correct.

It's quite sad what he has become         But it was self inflicted, so he can't keep blaming others for it.

He seems to be doing all right actually. At least he can still release music.
