Something like this would make a cool release from GNR if it was official. Bootlegs are neat but the quality is never what you would like. I would rather see a Ritz cd and bluray combo myself all remastered and hyped up by GNR for an anniversary celebration or something. Same goes for anything from the Illusion era concerts. It is beyond overdue. I see all of this happening years from now... I am a huge GNR and Axl supporter but I honestly think the catalogue and material in the vault would be better handled by someone else to oversee. It isn't about money or supporting the old line up at all it is just seriously good stuff that is overdue for remastering and deluxe edition treatment.

There is a loop hole. They have been releasing quasi-bootleg stuff for years.

Yeah. There's a bunch of those bootlegs. Basically anything that was ever professionally shot.

But the band sees no money, right?

I don't think these companies compensate the bands. Or the companies whose property they are releasing (MTV etc.).

I don't think they paid to use the material either. I mean, if they had to pay for the rights to use it, then surely a more reputable company would've released something like the Ritz show ages ago?

But that's just my guess.

I think you are right about all that.

Which is why I never understood how Amazon allows it.  They sure wouldn't allow pirated movies to be sold.

Technically GNR could probably sue.

If they are on amazon they are not technically bootlegs but unofficial releases. There is obviously some loophole in how GN'R's music is protected against such malpractices.

Happens to most popular bands.

Look on Amazon UK for Metallica or AC/DC DVDs for example. Not all of them are official....

For the radio broadcasts, the "broadcaster" retains rights to broadcast and publication (usually). That's part of the contract the band signed allowing broadcast in the first place.

SO, it is feasible to have it be a "legit" release assuming Bandana Records (whoever the fuck they are) received permission from whoever that broadcaster was.  In the US, it's often (for older "stuff") Westwood One, for instance.

I have no idea if thats the case for this release or not.

Well, even if it was, its not like these 2 shows are really hard to find.

And based on the tracklist, they are missing a bunch of shit anyway.

From Metal Sucks-

The good news: the classic line-up of Guns N? Roses will be releasing a new album this year!!! The bad news: it won?t have any new material on it!!!
As its title suggests, Guns N? Roses Live Radio Broadcasts will feature live radio broadcasts of Guns N? Roses. Specifically, their legendary 1988 show at The Ritz in New York City, and their 1992 Rosemont Horizon in Chicago.
Truth be told, I doubt that anyone from any version of Guns N? Roses had anything to do with this: it reeks of a record label exercising their legal right to release a greatest hits package or live album without the band?s permission. (You may recall that in 2004, Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan actually did reunite? to sue Geffen for releasing just such an album.) Still, this could be fun!

That's just to get clicks...don't let it bother ya.

Obviously nobody involved with any part of GNR's history is involved with this "release".
