Sounds like somebody can't accept that not everybody shared his crappy taste in music.
I do remember getting an Europe tape. But it didn't do
anything
. Didn't make me want to find out more about the band. It was like background music.
Other kids were into Metallica, Anthrax and all that.
Then came Appetite, and it made me start reading about music. Paying attention to things like lyrics. Wanting to find out more.
I think the only other band I listened to a bit from that era was Skid Row. Ironically, they opened for GN'R when I first saw them.

Skid Row gets a bad rap.
Yes, it was hair metal. But far harder than most of their genre contemporaries.

I didn't get into Guns until the early 90s, 1991 I think. I also listened to Bon Jovi, Metallica and RHCP at the time. GNR quickly became my favorite band, but I still listened to those other bands.

Those other bands didn't really have the staying power with me. I mean, I still have some Poison and Warrant on the ol' iPod, but I can't say they get played terribly often.
Even in the 90s when I got more into Pearl Jam, Nirvana, etc, I still listened to GNR regularly. But not as much Cinderella.

I still listen to Metallica and RHCP from time to time. I think they have good songs. Bon Jovi, not all that much.
That said, I have started listening to other bands from that era, much later in life.

I have listended to Metallica, AC/DC, Mot?rhead and Sex Pistols before I have listened to GN'R. UYI I and II were my first albums of the band after watching some live performances on youtoube from 1991-1993 and 2001-2002.

Use Your Illusion II was actually my first GNR album. Mostly because it was the album coming out at the time I got into the band. Went back and bought Appetite soon after..

Before Guns, I just wasn't that into music in general. When AFD came out, my music collection consisted of the following 4 cassettes:
- Blondie's Greatest Hits (which wasn't even mine; a babysitter left it in the house years earlier and I kept it);
- Van Halen, 1984
- Miami Vice Original TV Soundtrack
- Eddie Murphy, How Could It Be (c'mon, Party All The Time was a good song)
When AFD came out and the hits were getting major airplay, I didn't really get into the band. Axl's voice was kind of sensory overload for me at the time. It wasn't until Patience was released as a single that it all started for me. I fell in love with that song, bought Lies, then AFD shortly after and then from there got into 60s/70s classic rock (Doors, Stones, Zep) and 70s/80s punk rock (Ramones, Sex Pistols).

I agree with all the bands u mentioned. But Poison?
In there prime there were a very fun bsnd. No legs to make it as a all time great band. Bf durring there time. Well I really liked them. Mind u i was in grade 7. Haha.
Exactly. Not sure I'm buying this supposed musical snobbery some were allegedly possessing in 6th and 7th grade.
Sure sound like some revisionist history, to this reporter.
You are hardly a reporter although you do share some unmistakable traits with shoddy, shit journalism.
Some of us were out of grade school and already into adulthood when Poison was popular.
