I think if November Rain was released today, the radio would fade it out at some point in the middle of the song.

Good point, the "immediacy factor" figures into this as well, people seem to want instant music, instant food and waiting on something is somehow perceived as a negative thing.
I'm one of those old school audiophiles that still listens to complete albums, it surprised me how most don't these days.
I agree. Everyone wants everything right now. Just look at how much credit card debt people have. Nobody saves for anything.
Nobody listens to records any more. Society has become all about marketing and listing to singles/hits. How many songs have been lost to this I wonder? Sure there are a few classic b-sode deep track songs by artisits out there that could of been huge but have been lost to the shuffle
It is also up to bands though to tour and play these songs. So people that might of skipped over the song are now forced exposed to the song
