They've been playing some pretty good baseball lately. Had the highest batting average in the majors for the month of August. Up there in homers, doubles, and runs too. Starting pitching has been pretty solid. But the bullpen. Dear god, the bullpen. If you can even call it that. No lead is safe, and they proved it tonight. Luckily they held on. You're welcom Bacon! Sox have taken well to the role of spoiler. I read today how much better their record is without Pedroia in the lineup. Has to be just a coincidence, but it is a pretty drastic difference.

People are tweeting that they are confuscating all signs in the park tonight having to do with Don.

Is that right? That's crazy. The petition has over 50,000 signatures now. Not that it'll matter much. At least Don can take some solace with all the support going his way. Hope he's still scheduled to work post season games for TBS this year.

Edit - Just read the same thing on Twitter about signs in support of Don being confiscated. Sounds like Gordon Edes wants to get to the bottom of that. Hope he does. Hope it's not true, but certainly wouldn't surprise me.

I read that that ball would have been a HR in 24 other ballparks, or something like that. Wrong part of the park. Machi is unavailable tonight, and not sure you'd want him back out there anyway. And Tazawa remains the 8th inning guy. If there's a need for a closer tonight, I'm not sure who they turn to. It wouldn't likely be pretty though.

Crazy thing... Vegas has the Mets as the big favorite for the NL Pennant. Cards, Pirates and Dodgers are all about the same odds.

The Mets do seem to be built for the past season, with their dominant pitching. But, they're young. So who knows how they'll perform under the big lights, or how they'll hold up in pitching more innings than they ever had well into October. I refuse to trust the Dodgers until they give me reason to. On the flipside, the Cards are a proven commodity in the playoffs. They just know how to win, with all different casts of characters.

Cards and Giants have proven to be the cream of the crop over the past 10-13 years. Impossible to knock either of them in any way.

Maybe if the Dodgers can avoid the Cardinals. This could be Greinke's last year so it could be now or never. At least, with that crew. I'm sure they'll throw hundreds of millions at someone to take his place if he walks.

The Yanks lost a 7 game (in the loss column) lead in about 2 weeks.

I am positive of nothing, in terms of their post season chances.

I will say...I'm just about ready to adjust my picks to Jays/Cards in the WS.

Give me another week of the Jays stating hot, and I'll be there.
