You could see why Severino has so much hype around him. The ball leaves his hand very nicely. You hate to see a knuckler when the lineup is so hot... they can really throw guys off.

Mets had a very scarrrrry ninth last night!

September should be a lot of fun for the New York teams.

His mechanics are.....wonky.  All arm, too little lower body.  That COULD lead to arm issues, down the line, but short term, probably not a concern.

The frightening part is he 's hitting 97 with those lower body mechanics.  He could, with some slight adjustment, hit triple digits, I think.

He needs to work on the consistency of his cutter/split/slider thing (it really defies explanatinon...it looks like a cutter grip, but it breaks down, too).  It ranged from 85 to 91.  He needs to keep that at a more consistent speed.

His changeup needs a little work, too.  It's hitting 90, most times.  It needs more differentiation from his fb (95-97) and his cutter (you want that around 90-ish)...but it's a WIPEOUT pitch.  If he could take just a bit more off it, he'd have 3 ++ pitches ( He's got a +++ fb, a ++ cutter/split/slider thing).

It was a promising start. Granted, it was against the Red Sox, who aren't exactly offensive juggernauts, but he looked good.

The one thing I think we should have learned over the last 10 years... there is absolutely no RHYME or REASON why guys have arm troubles...

They baby pitchers... they get hurt... they run guys out there for 125 pitches a game... they get hurt...

If you ask me... no matter what age they are, how many innings they have under their belt... if they are one of ur best 5 guys... put em out there and let them get guys out.

Another win for the good guys and the evils ones loose.  4.5 games back now!

Jays bullpen is on fire!

Jays bats are on fire!

Clutch wins!

Gotta love it
You're welcome. Red Sox doing their part to help the Jays out. They'll give it another go tonight. Rodriguez vs. Sabathia, so they've got a shot.

What a week it's been for the Mets.  A publicly botched trade resulting in an on-field meltdown, a raccoon gets loose in the clubhouse, they actually pull-off a decent trade, Flores hits a big-time walk-off HR, Nats sweep, a winning streak and surge into first, nearly blow an 8-run lead in the 9th last night... thank god today's an off-day.

Dickey's 7-3 with a 2.43 ERA vs the Yanks, so.....we'll see.

Headley strikes again *headdesk*

That throw was abysmal....

I'd almost put A-Rod back at third. How much worse could he be then this clown.

I'd almost put A-Rod back at third. How much worse could he be then this clown.

The problem there is two fold:

Arod has zero range out there.  While the throws might be better...he's not getting to 80% of the balls, so...

Putting A-rod at third is likely a quick trip to the DL for him, and we can't risk his bat right now.

Headley occasionally punts a throw...and it's frustrating...and his defense isn't stellar.  But he's got decent range, and can make that strong throw to Tex on plays I don't think he has a SHOT to get there in time.  You just have to take the occasional frustrating punting to go along with it...

Very very frustrating then there is that play in the previous game where he nearly tackled Tanaka.

Me too. Should be fun.

Tulo is scary... I wanted the Yankees to get him for two years... despite his injury troubles his contract is very reasonable for a player of his skill set.

His defence is some of the best I have seen.  And his bat can't be beat.    He can't run though and I would watch that if I was the jays.   Don't let him steal or slide when not needed ok that turf of ours.

Best part of the jays up coming schedual is we get a couple of days off.   With those days off we can reset the starting rotation.  Helping us put dickey and price up more often especially against the Yankees.     It's all coming together.

Let's go jays!,

This Yankee pitcher is going to throw his arm out pitching around the jays.   I predict a third inning blow up

I hate when fans reach over and try and catch the ball

A jays fan however would of caught the ball

I think if the Yankee fan didn't try to catch the ball with his Sally hands.   It would of been a home run.  Bttm 2nd
