Gomez and fiers going from brewers to astros for prospecs. Gomez already cleared medicals (take that mets).

They must have tried to squeeze the Brewers to kick in money, they said no and the Mets balked.

It's unreal... Gomez was the perfect player for them.. next year at 9 million is like stealing too.

I'm so thankful my Dad made a Yankee fan on days like this.

Great game and win for the jays tonight.   The boys looked so jacked out there   Smiles everyplace!!!!

Jays pitching has really come together the past month or so    Now with price coming it will only help   Tons of games left and there is not a stronger line up out there!!

I am already planning another ball trip for late September!!!

Go jays!!

Carlos Gomez and Mike Fiers to Houston...
Astros have made some nice moves. Should be a fun race in the AL West.

I think the Yanks do something fairly large tomorrow. Though the SP market has thinned out quite a bit. Chapman or Kimbrel are the best pitchers available, but they don't exactly need bullpen help. Especially with the latest on Pineda. Warren could go back to the rotation though and they would just need their starters to meander through 5 innings in October. AL East race may not be over yet though. A lot can happen over the next 2 months. Except of course the Red Sox making a run. That ain't happening!

Last night's start just re-enforces the fact they CAN NOT depend on CC (who should probably go to the pen) to make meaningful starts in a pennant race.

BEFORE the Pineada injury, it was fairly obvious they needed another solid arm in their rotation.

AFTER....well, Cashman might have waited to long.  But AFTER, this is a no brainer.  CC HAS to go and you need to fill Pineada's slot.  You can't have your offense put up 6 runs and lose because your starter can't get people out.  CC was completely ineffective last night...pretty much all the outs were credits to his defense, not him.

Warren's fine...he'll take Pineada's slot.  But they NEED SOMEONE TO TAKE CC's.

They don't need bullpen help.  It's not going to have enough effect.

CC sent to hospital for dehydration. Hope he's OK.

But maybe he needs to do a stint on the 60 day DL to rehydrate. Wink

And then we can bring up Severino for a bit (though he's only got 50 innings left til his limit).

Though I fear we might be looking at a stint of "Big Game James". Sad

I don't mind Big Game James... it shouldn't cost anything, and if the Pads, kick in a nice chunk of cash... I think that works.

I'm not sure he's a real difference maker...but...to his credit...he's better than CC.

Now, if they manage to get Shields and Kimbrel in some sort of package deal.....I'd take it.

A lot of Mets fans are disgusted with the whole Gomez trade fiasco... I agree on the incompetence of the handling of it in terms of leaving Flores on the field and whatnot, but in terms of the actual trade... I would have expected a lot more in return for Wheeler.  Gomez is a very good player, but with the exception of his 2013 and 2014 seasons, as a hitter he's been pretty average or downright bad.  He's been having a decent, but comparatively down, year this season, and with his SBs significantly lower this year, something has to not be right with his legs / lower body.   I'm fine with the trade not going down.

Yanks kicking the tires on Marlins Capps.

(C'mon, that headline would just write itself!! Yankees trade prospects for Capps!)

My guess is he would be your 7th inning guy..with Shreve now taking the 6th (with Warren, unless they need to move him to the rotation).

And now you only need 5 out of your starters.

Still......the starter would be a LOT more helpful, here.

Best Trade Deadline "joke" tweet goes to John Axford of the Rockies:
David Price and Mike Trout...three way trade to the Yankees for Derek Jeter (this trade makes no sense!) Sources - Kyle Kendrick #BusChatter

Both the Sox and Cubs have been kicking the tires on Kimbrel and Ross from the Pads. Also Carrasco from the Tribe, along with a host of other teams. Who wants these guys the most? Seems to be a sellers market, per usual.

Looks like that's what they're after: Curasco and another OF bat.

AL East looks like it's getting a LOT better, and is VERY active, in this years trade deadline madness.
