I don't see Toronto shelling out 200 million to keep Price....I imagine he heads out West .

So they really shouldn't trade for him... they aren't catching the Yankees anyway.
There's always the wild card. Even if they don't catch the Yankees, that's not the only way in.

I'm going to keep saying this until it's not true:

I'm still not confident that the Yanks have the division locked up.  I think the Sox (15 losses out) and probably the Rays (9 losses out) are out of it.  I think the O's (6 losses out) and Jays (8 losses out) are still in it..ESPECIALLY the O's.

If, my some miracle, the Yanks make a blockbuster deal at the deadline, maybe my opinion will change.  But this rotation is too inconsistent, and this offense putting up numbers that are TOO surprising/above expectations, for me to have confidence.

Talk to me when they're 10 games up on 2nd place. Wink

The party is over !

I think this Yankee team has a little something cookin'... and plus I have no respect for any of the other teams... especially Toronto : )

Sorry Bacon!

Sure.. If it was me.. I'm not mortgaging the farm for a rental, when I'm at 500 and chasing the one game playoff.

If they plan on signing him... then by all means, but I doubt that they could pull that off.
Is draft pick compensation assigned to Price if he leaves? I forgot the rules on such acquisitions.

I want to agree with pilferk, because I don't think the Yankees have a particularly good roster, but they've been this good for this long. At some point, they are what their record says they are.

I still think deadline deals could shift the balance of power. If the Yankees want to be a legit WS contender I think they need to make a deal or two. Waving an AL East banner in 2015 isn't as great an accomplishment as it once was.

Yeah i am not 100 percent sure myself, that's a good point, it would make a big difference in this scenario.

You know the Yankee lineup 1-6 is very very good... and that bullpen...

I think they have proven enough to me. Could they use reinforcements in the rotation? Absolutely

Fingers are crossed they get something done before tomorrow.

Jays are making a MAJOR push for Price......

Rosenthal says that deal is almost done and sources say "it's not going to go on much longer".

Apparently, this is what the Jays are offering:

LHP Daniel Norris, LHP Matt Boyd, and CF Anthony Alford

Edit: I expect Bacon to come in, squee, and faint...

Norris, at least, is going to Detroit.

Labourt and Boyd also part of the package going from the Jays to Detroit.

Alford is out of that deal.

No cash going from detroit to the jays..jays pick up the rest of Price's contract.

He's going to the DL. Sounds like an elbow..yikes!

CC tonight.

Nova also might be hurt...

I would like the jays to add a rental left fielder now.

We still have a few top level prospects to trade up

Rental left fielder baby!!!!   Let's do it!!!

Jack Curry just retweeted a couple things, re Pineada:

1) Brian Mitchell, NOT CC, is pitching tonight

2) It's a forearm strain, not an elbow, and not considered serious.

We'll see...

Edit: The above is according to Joel Sherman, who tends to be more reliable than Francesa.

And now others are chiming in and saying pretty much all the Yankee sources are confirming forearm strain.  Which isn't to say that it won't turn into something more, but....

Heyman says Grade 1 forearm strain, could be out a month or less.

Still, not promising.  Things can tighten up a LOT in 30 days.

Gomez to the Mets is dead per Rosenthal, Mets backed out due to Gomez's medicals.

Theres no crying in baseball!

Brewers are saying Gomez is fine, that the Mets backed out because Brewers wouldn't kick in any cash for Gomez's contract (which isn't terrible at $9M/yr).  Either way, the whole thing is beyond embarrassing.

Multiple other sources deny that, and say it's not true.  That it was the medicals.  I don't know which is true...given this is the Mets, nothing would surprise me.

The rumor was his "hip", but I think that was a nice way to say his groin/adductor issue isn't 100% fully healed based on the medicals.  Whether that's true, or was just an excuse 'cause the mets got cold feet....i dont' know.

Still 8 in the loss column for the division. Wild Card is more likely.

Oh, and we're back to CC starting tonight...Mitchell for long relief, Pineada to DL.
