I keep waiting for 13 and 25 for the Yankees to fall over... but man... what a performance by them.

Marmite Militia, taking over one piece of toast at a time!!!

That bomb by A-rod last night was tremendous.  It's HARD to hit the ball OVER the opposing dug out in left center.

Tex seems to DESTROY the O's, constantly.

And every other team in the AL East lost last night.

Yup. Great night all around... that ball is still going.

Excited to listen to the soothing sounds of John Sterling during work today as we go for the sweep. (a voice only a Yankee fan could love)

The last two games against the A's are pretty much the Jays season in a nutshell.

7-1 victory, followed by a 4-3 loss.

You are so right.    Jays had some stuff pitching last night as well.    If my fast ball would just crack 84 I think I would be able to pitch for the jays.
I sure as hell could field better than reyes.  That stiff

Yanks sweep the O's, and now have a lead of at least 7 losses.

Yikes.

Tanka was dealin' today too.

Can't believe my eyes with the standings... lets keep it up in the Twin Cities...we have owned the Twinkies for as long as I can remember.

He sorta lost focus there, at the end, and gave up those two bombs. But, otherwise...yowza.

I know what you mean about the standings. Not lon ago they had dropped to third (and even a day or two in fourth, alphabetically). Suddenly, you blink, and they have this big lead. We'll see if it lasts....talk to me in 45 days. Wink

Rumors of Toronto going after Carlos Carrasco of the Indians. That would be quite a nice addition. The Indians have good young pitching, so I guess they feel they can deal from a position of strength to improve the team in other areas. I'd be wary of trading a young arm like that though.

Kazmir traded to the Astros. Nice addition there. Not sure about the guys they gave up. We'll find out down the road.

Let the trading begin!

There's a lot of chatter right now in NY about the Yankees bringing in Chapman ...

That would be fun to watch ... That's for sure.

The next few days will be fun leading up to the trade deadline.

I was listening, via gameday, to see who would win.

That must have been almost PHYSICALLY painful, Baconman....

If we can addy any player with in reason without moving Judge... who do you want ?

I'm willing to move anybody but him for Price even if the Yankees don't lock him up.

PILFERK

IDK....honestly. What we need is a solid, reliable, mlb average-ish, hitting SS and ONE more reliable starter (which means moving CC to the pen as the lefty specialist).  Everyone else has actually been good, considering what the expectation are for them.  I mean, obviously if we could get a 2B with Drews defense who could actually HIT a ball, reliably..that would be nice.  But, as I've said before, I can take Drew's .188 and 13 HRs to get his defense. But our SS is literally just taking up space, absent the odd productive game.

The SS is hard, given what's on the on the market.

The reliable starter is currently sitting in the Yanks pen (Warren)....though I'd take Price, who would be a considerable upgrade.

I'm hearing louder rumblings about them possibly adding another ridiculous arm to the back end of their pen, though....which would be nice, but isn't strictly NECESSARY.  Still.. Betances in the 7th, Miller in the 8th, and Chapman/Kimbrel in the 9th sounds freaking SCARY, AND it take a lot of stress off some arms with questionable durability in the rotation. It helps ease the workload of Tanaka, Pineada, and Nova....not one of those guys do you really want throwing 200+ innings, but who it looks like you might need come late Sept/Oct.

Having said that, I would NOT give up the Farm system for 2 to 3 months of David Price or for either of the hard throwing bullpen options I've seen bandied around.  Price, at least, would have to come with an understanding of an extension (and are the Yanks really gonna do that, given what they're paying CC, what Price would want, and what Price's potential career trajectory might be?).  The bullpen help would have to be relatively "cheap" in terms of prospects, given what the Yanks already have in the back end of their pen.

All that subject to change, based on any moves made by other members of the AL east.  Honestly, I don't see a TON of movement by the O's, Rays, or Jays in the next couple of days. largely because the're all, right now, looking at "buying" to see if they can get into a one game playoff...but we'll see.  I think it's a tough organizational sell to give up the farm system when you're, at least, 7 losses out of the division lead, with less than 70 (and closing in on 60) to play.  That's not to say those teams don't have a shot...they do...but it's hard to risk the farm, literally, in that position, IMHO.

If the Yanks hadn't opened up that wider gap of late....I think there would be more movement. Hell, if they'd shit the bed in Minnesota, I think there might be more movement.   The next 7 games for the Yanks are HUGE....because once they finish up, they only have 24 games left on the road...and 34 at home.

All valid stuff. I had mentioned Chapman a few days ago too .. Would be scary.

I think Price would be such a boost to their chance in a short series , and you only get so many chances , it's as wide open as it will ever be in the AL.

The Yankees dont even leave the eastern time zone again after this trip ... The schedule is very light , which only adds to my belief the division is over. Plus three of those road games are at Citi, so they don't even leave home for those.
