So whats everybody WS as of today ?
I think the Dodgers will finally get over the hump this year.
in the AL... you can really make a case for probably 6 or 7 teams... but being the homer that I am...
Dodgers vs Yankees
I'm sticking with what I had pre season:

I'm so excited to have real sport on television tonight !
So you'll be watching National League baseball exclusively?
Kidding..sorta..
I'm caught up on all the show's mentioned - True Detective (enjoying season 2), Penny Dreadful, (great show, Eva Green is quite, ya know...let's go with fetching) Masters of Sex (ditto on Lizzy Caplan), The Brink (Tim Robbins is hysterical) and Ballers is surprisingly good.
Agree on ballers. Pretty much everything the rock does is gold. We watched 2 eps of brink. Not feeling it.

Nationals vs Royals.
Cant pick any al east teams in the ws. They all stink, to varying degrees. Yanks might manage to win that division by atrition....

You all like the Nats huh?
I don't know.. I just think eventually Kershaw and Greinke get thru. Something tells me the Nats are one more year away... I'd feel a lot better if Rendon and Werth were on the field, obviously.
HATE Volquez in a big spot for the Royals.

I reserve the right to re access after the deadline, until then I'll stick with the Nats.
Any sign of Birds on the Bat normally make Kershaw and Greinke assume the fetal position but that worm is due to turn sooner than later.
I actually think Pittsburgh is the best team top to bottom right now, they're really good and getting better.

You gotta give it more than that. The first two episodes were slow. It gets better, plus John Larroquette is on more. He's barely seen in the first two.

I will pick my picks after the deadline. Until the. I am too biased in my love for the Jays to pick anyone else.
The divorce will be on however if they do not make any moves at the deadline. Either picking up guys or selling off guys. But there has to be a move made
Also I will be seeing the jays live for the first time this year next week in Seattle for 3 games!!!! Can't wait!!!!

Deadline moves will have a say in who becomes a favorite. There are some players who could push teams to the front of that list.
Have fun in Seattle.
Oh, and someone forgot to tell the Red Sox offense that the break was over. Maybe they can score a run today.
If this trip ends up burying them in the standings, and early indications are that it will. They should shift their focus to next year. Try to find takers for guys like Napoli, De Aza, and Victorino. Make room for some guys who may actually be around next season to see what they can for an extended period.

Their offense has been up and down this year. Not nearly as good as expected, but it's way down on their list of problems. Their starting pitching has been pretty bad, but I think their bullpen was even more poorly constructed. They have 2 reliable relievers, maybe 3. If you have a shaky starting staff, you need a dominant bullpen. Buchholz was having a very good season until he inevitably got hurt. Rodriguez has been a bright spot since being called up. They're hoping for more of the same with recently called up Brian Johnson. Miley has been decent for the most part. Porcello has been the one big disappointment.
I could defend them not signing Lester if they just didn't feel he was a true ace. He was borderline, but they certainly didn't get anyone to replace him. If they don't get an ace by next year, they need to at least load up on arms in the pen. Chapman would be a good start. Their biggest mistake this off season was not signing Andrew Miller. They badly miss him. I guess they felt like 4/36 was too much for a "setup" man and they already had an established closer. Problem is, Koji probably has 1 year left, and Miller has stepped into the closer role with the Yankees without skipping a beat. The Yanks rotation isn't exactly great, but their bullpen is dominant. Granted he missed some time, but he's a major difference between the two teams.

If the Mets could ever average 4.5 runs a game and put together a defense, they'd dominate baseball.

I think only 4 runs per game would do it, but either way, unlikely anytime soon... they're at less than 3.5 per game now...

I can't understand what's going on with the Jays this year... best run differential in the AL and just 4th place and a .500 record?

I watched every pitch of that game, it was something akin to bamboo shoot torture.

They are 10 and 19 in 1 run games, with a -9 run differential.
They are 20-6 in blowout games (games decided by 5 runs or more) with a +100 run differential.
They are 28-19 at home, with a + 83 run differential.
They are 19-28 on the road with a +6 run differential.
That's how you're a .500 team with a +89 run differential....

You beat me to the punch... but in general terms.. they are just a bully team... they have a big time lineup that has games where they crush people... and then they struggle in close games because they have a real weak staff 1-12 and lets be honest.. at least IMO... they don't have "winning" position players either... maybe that's not fair... but perception is often reality.
Excluding Martin and Donaldson, who I like... the other guys in that lineup are "losers" to me. Reyes, Joey bats and Encarnacion... they just give off the impression they would rather put up their numbers than actually win games.
They are what their record says they are... a famous football coach said that once right?

The Jays position players are stronger this year than any previous year in recent memory. Joey Bats wants nothing more than to win..
At this point however they are not a playoff team.. Need some moves
