I guess it could, but anyone not named Betances or Miller have a combined 4.05 ERA and even Betances was terrible last night.

Fixed that bit for you. Wink

Warren WAS good in the pen, too...but now he's in the rotation.  You might get your wish in a couple weeks when Nova comes back, though.  If they don't go to a 6 man, likely Warren heads to the pen, and Rogers gets the boot.

The Yankees bullpen this year makes me want to jump through a fucking window! How the hell do you go into the 9th up 8-0 and win 8-7. Mo come back!

The short answer: Esmil Rogers

I mean, really, that was it.

Miller has also shown that he is really most effective pitching a full inning, and it should probably be THE NINTH inning.

In the 8th, or coming in mid-inning...it's not all that pretty.

The fact is: The Yanks pen has actually been the best in baseball...even the mid part that makes you cringe.  Some injuries out there, right now, are making things a little thinner, too.

But, I agree with this: 2 games in a row and you were sweating bullets at the end. ONE of those, at least, was completely unnecessary and a product of Rogers ineptitude.
I thought for sure we were gonna complete blowing that 8-0 game.

I think part of the rationale for the 6-man was to artificially inflate Dillon Gee's trade value; but they've been shopping him for almost a year now and it seems pretty clear he's not valued much by other teams regardless of whether he's in the bullpen or the '6th' starter.

Update on Holliday, Cards announce it's a right quad strain.

MRI tomorrow.

Again, fuck.

Nope, and early (unverified reports pit of STL) have it as a tear.

If confirmed tomorrow, he's done for the season.

There will be a roster move for sure, if they choose and outfielder top prospect Steven Piscotty will get the call I'd suspect.

Well, semi good news on Holliday.

Grade 2 quad strain, no surgery necessary.

They've put him on the 15 day DL but it'll be longer than that (likely a lot longer) before his return.

Major bummer.

It's actually good news compared to what was being speculated, but that's bright siding it.

Fortunately the Cards have built organizational depth to handle when guys go down, but maintaining the best record in baseball type pace with what they've had go down isn't gonna last.

Ughhhh.....Cards are dropping like Hanley Ramirez drops fly balls.

OK, that was a low blow.  Sorry faldor (not really) Tongue .

Seriously, the Yanks had this kind of season a few years ago (and, to a lesser extent, last year).  Where of the 9 guys playing, maybe 3, at any one time, were actually recognizable.  It sucks....

Well now it is the Yanks turn for some injury news Miller to the DL with arm stiffness. 9th innings are about to get interesting.

It's my fault. The baseball gods frowned on my Hanley Ramirez comments.

9th will probably be OK....they'll move Betances out there to the closer role, and I think he'll be fine.

BUT, the 8th is now going to be interesting.  The one positive is that MAYBE, in about 5 days, we get Nova back, and Warren can take over in the 8th until Miller gets back.

That thinning of the bullpen REALLY hurts (as we saw yesterday).  I was literally yelling "WTF, Girardi" in the 8th inning...and was basically promising, if there wasn't an injury, to put lemon juice in his aftershave and exlax in his brownies.  But, in the post game, he announced the Miller problem and....off the hook.

And the inevitable other shoe has dropped - Lynn to the 15 DL with a strained forearm.

Insert expletive laden tirade here...

Ha, it's been close to a decade that anyone considered the Mets a big test, but I'll take it!  Would love to see them make a playoff run this year.

I think this series will have RA Dickey's first start in Citified since the Mets traded him to the Jays.  He was adored by the fan base.
