The kids pitching both starting and out of the pen is looking good.    Will be nice to see the bats light up once they get out of new York and some place with better weather.   And at least a crowd that goes to the games

You might see that in Baltimore....if it's not cold and raining. It's supposed to be in the 40's and 50's at night (and 60's and 70 during the day), and relatively dry, so...I'd say it's a good bet.   I've been to games in Baltimore where it's cold and wet...and that place is at least as much a ghost town as The Stadium was the past couple days. Nobody wants to be sitting outside in 30 degree weather, in the rain. Not everyone gets to play 80 games in a dome.

I was actually OK with last nights game.  CC wasn't actually hit hard in that big inning...lot of squib hits that found holes.  And AFTER that inning, he looked REALLY good.  But, again, I'll point out the Yanks infield can't hit and the left side (and maybe everyone but Tex) can't field or throw the ball, either. It's gonna be hard to win games if you can't hit OR play defense.  Doesn't matter how good the pitching is.

And their "long man" looked just like he did in Spring Training....and why Warren got the 5th starter spot.

That would be Headley.  Same guy that played most of last year there.

The thing is...last year..he vastly overperformed the back of his baseball card (both offensively and defensively). Honestly, he's just not that good.  I couldn't understand why the Yanks re-signed him, and gave him the deal they did.  He's not worth it.  In 3 games, he's fucked up at least 4 plays (maybe as many as 6 or 7)...either with bad throws or by missing plays he should have made.

You can't give a team like the Jays an extra out or two every game.

That play at third last night where they had the runner thrown out if he just caught the ball made my head wanna go boom. He just flat out missed the ball it was a good throw from the right fielder.

Well you are right we did see it in Baltimore   

Around 12 runs the jays scored, with 0 home runs.   That's really good

If they can manage to play baseball like this and not just a game called home run, the good guys should do very good this year.  Get guys on base, advance them, score runs....   If you get a home run, it's a bonus

Lots of injured teams in the al east and if the jays take advantage of this I will be one happy man. 

The most impressive part for the jays so far this year has been our defence.  Travis at second is a total surprise for me.   And surprises and guys performing when you didn't think they could is the difference between second and first

I didn't see how full it was early on but granted it was a ghost town by the end it was after 2 a.m. though.

I'm not a Yankees fan by any means, but you're off base here. Fans typically support their teams when they're good. Not so much when they're bad. The Jays averaged 23,327 in attendance last season, and they were mediocre. Back in their glory days of the early 90's they averaged around 50,000. So "you get it". You support your team when they're good. Not as much when they're not so good.

The Yankees also had a mediocre team last year and averaged 41,995. At their peak they averaged a little more than 50,000 per game. So there's really no difference. In 2010 the Blue Jays averaged 18,463. You'd have to go back to 1975 when the Yanks played their home games at Shea where their attendance was that low.

So I'm not sure what "you get" that American baseball fans don't. "You get" hockey, I'll give you that. But I'm not seeing it for baseball.

I think that's one of the coolest things about baseball.  The fact that there is no ties and the game has no stop time

Oh trust me.  I am not a supporter of the baseball fans in Toronto.   Our big stadium also looks half empty at times.  When the jays ain't doing so good. Or another team is in town, that isn't that big of a draw

It blows my mind that this happens there or any other city.  People take for granted just how lucky they are to have these live sporting events in there city.  How lucky there are to have a mlb team.  All the stadiums all over should be full all the time.  There are no excuses

When the Jays are in Seattle this year, July.  You will see just how much western Canadian jays fans get it.  When thousands of U.S. Make the trip down south to support our team that weekend

I agree, but i felt like that one was never gonna end and they had to do it all again 9 hours later. I imagine there were a lot of tired players Saturday in the Bronx.

I'm make you a deal:

You convince the Jays, for one game, to sell the lower level seats behind home plate, and both dugouts, for somewhere around $1000 to $2000 apiece (or more).

We'll see how "full" it looks on camera.

They pulled, for the 3 games vs the Jays, about 32k a game.  Now, IDK if 32k walked through the turnstiles, but that was the paid attendance. In cold, wet, weather for a team that's pretty much projected by it's fan base to be terrible.

For the Sox game in question, they pulled about 41k (that's about 85% full). 

They're selling tickets.  They're NOT selling the $500 plus tickets.  The people are all in the 2nd level, grandstands, and bleachers.  You can see it via some of those long fly balls that are hit toward the outfield.  The back part of the stadium is pretty full.

And there were PLENTY of years that the Toronto stands were empty.....like "Tampa Bay Rays when they were terrible" levels of empty. With cheap tickets, and climate controlled conditions.

The worm turns...that's baseball.

That's the main problem at the Stadium. They've priced the average fan out. Even in previous years when the Yankees have been better, those seats have been empty for a good number of games, relatively speaking. Who's going to spend a couple grand to go see a baseball game? I got good seats in that area at the old Stadium years ago. There's no way I could get those, or afford them these days.

As for the action on the field. The Yanks looked pretty awful up until last night. Last night they looked great. So it's still too early to say how good or bad any team is going to be. Their pitching is going to be good and that should be enough to keep them competitive. But their defense and offense looks suspect. I do think they'll improve in those areas a bit. A-Rod actually looks pretty good early on.

On the Red Sox, they looked real good the first 5 through the rotation. And last night, Buchholz was terrible. It was a long weekend in NY, with the 19 inning game Friday night and quick turnaround day game Saturday. Then the late game yesterday and home opener this afternoon. Not the easiest schedule for a baseball team. But that's how it goes. I hope that's why they looked so listless last night. Koji comes back today and they need him badly because their bullpen is very weak without him. They've faced 2 offensively challenged clubs so far, so I'm not going to get too excited about them yet. Joe Kelly looked promising, albeit against a team that played till 3 in the morning the night before. I still don't expect great things from the Sox this year, but absolutely anything can happen in the AL East.
