Teixeira also had the misfortune of having to try and hit Chapman and looked bad on a strikeout to end the 9th.
Yup. It's hard to hit 101.8, 103.2 and 102.5 in rapid succession.
The only thing nastier would have been if he'd mixed in that mid 80's breaking ball.

On the Mets. They really have something there with that rotation. If they can keep them and find some offense watch out.
Other than signing Justin Upton this offseason, who would cost $250M minimum, I don't know what they do to significantly upgrade their offense for next season. There aren't really any great hitters coming up for free agency this off-season. Even adding Upton would only improve the offense from horrible to barely mediocre.
I suppose they could trade one of their young stud pitchers for a big bat. But I'd hate to see that.
If i were them i wouldn't trade any of those 5 guys for all the money in the world.

I have no idea how he doesn't have a 0.00 ERA with that kinda heat.

He could be a big difference maker for some team. And I'm sure there'll be plenty of interest. What's his contract status anyway?
Edit - just looked it up. Looks like he signed for 8.5 mil for just this year, so he should be a FA at the end of the season. So the package to get him might not be as unreal, since he may just be a rental.

It's totally a sellers market right now though.
They jays bed a closer a starter and a left fielder. We have lots of assets to deal with. So I hope we make something work soon

Did anyone happen to catch the MLB Network Presents, "Buck Showalter, A Life in Baseball" with Bob Costas tonight?
If not, give it a watch - it's great.

The most amazing thing to me about Buck... is he wasn't even 40 years old when he was the Yankee skipper...
I just always thought he was 60 even back then !!! Always looked old
Great manager... he seems to not wear on his players as much as used to.
He also comes off as a real good guy away from the field... his interviews are always very enlightening and entertaining when he is on with Mike Francesa.

That is the issue. With the extra wild cards, so many teams think they're in it until the deadline. There are only a handful of teams that can truly be considered out of it. Even the Red Sox somehow snuck back into the gray area where they're not quite in seller mode at this point. We'll see what happens over the next few weeks, but right now there are way more buyers than sellers.

I think the three most likely players to get moved are Segura, Cueto and Hamels.
I see the Mets grabbing Segura, Astros getting Cueto and the Cubs, Dodgers or Jays getting Hamels.

Heh heh..check out the vid of Jeter getting slimed at the Kids choice awards:

We are way behind on True Detective. Loved S1....not hearing good things about this season so far. Whatcha think?
I have MOS on the DVR, too...we'll wait til the season is over and binge watch it (doing that now with Penny Dreadful).

It's impossible to match Woody and MM from Season 1 of TD... but... I am still enjoying season 2 so far..with the exception of Taylor Kitsch.. I think he is terrible. If this was just another police show without the name True Detective... I think the reviews would be better.
Penny Dreadful is the only Showtime show I can't get in to. Just not my thing

So you'll be watching National League baseball exclusively?
Kidding..sorta..
I'm caught up on all the show's mentioned - True Detective (enjoying season 2), Penny Dreadful, (great show, Eva Green is quite, ya know...let's go with fetching) Masters of Sex (ditto on Lizzy Caplan), The Brink (Tim Robbins is hysterical) and Ballers is surprisingly good.

I think the Dodgers will finally get over the hump this year.
in the AL... you can really make a case for probably 6 or 7 teams... but being the homer that I am...
Dodgers vs Yankees

I'll go with the Nationals in the NL and the Angels in the AL.
