Mets will have to keep playing top-notch in all facets of the game if they're going to win this thing, regardless of who they play. The starting pitching gets tons of plaudits, but the strength is in their depth, no one guy was exactly a Cy Young contender this year. Plus, their middle relief has been inconsistent. So, they'll need to find ways to continue scoring the way they've been this postseason.

Regardless of who wins the AL...
I think they are in trouble...
They simply can't match up with these pitchers...
I think either match up fine against the Mets, especially the Royals.
Not saying either will be favored (or win for that matter) but I don't see any kind of cake walk either way.
You know if the Mets score three runs a game... i just don't see how that doesn't win... particularly against the Royals. The jays are obviously a little bit more explosive.
The Royals have actually scored 59 runs in 10 post season games. The Jays have 49 runs in 10 games. The offense hasn't been as prolific in October. Obviously the potential is there, but KC's offense is no slouch. I think both teams are worlds better defensively than the Cubs too, especially KC. Shwarber did his best Hanley Ramirez impersonation in LF in the NLCS. They did not do themselves any favors in the field. The loss of Addison Russell can't go overlooked either. Although, the Mets did lose their starting SS against the Dodgers too I guess.
The Mets played a near perfect series against the Cubs. I'd be impressed if they could do that again, and they'd be more than deserving champions.

Yep, that's how I see it it as well.
The Royals want you in their pen after a strong 5-6 from their starters, the Mets don't.
The Mets will have to score runs early off starters (assuming its the Royals) and keep the hammer down to win.
Beyond that, enjoy the next few days George cause the Series is gonna be nerve racking!

Thanks a lot guys! I'm just floored, I know 'ya gotta believe' and all, but I just cannot believe the NY Mets are in the World Series. I feel a bit foolish about never believing this team was good enough to get this far, but they have proven me very wrong. I know the pitching has been great, but it's been great all year yet they had little to show for it well into the season. But since the trade deadline, this team has been transformed. Not just the acquisitions have made an impact, but calling up Conforto, getting Wright back from injury, d'Arnaud turning into an elite offensive catcher, and Daniel Murphy turning into a total freaking alien. I hope they keep this going, but I'll take a few days to enjoy this. LGM!
It's a good example (the Jays are another...though that gap was a LOT wider between them and the Yanks at the deadline) of what you can do at the deadline, when you have a flawed team in front, and you can "hang around".
Mets did this and only took on minimal payroll increases for 1/2 a season or so. They couldn't hit..so they went out and got EXACTLY what they needed. And, a couple hitters already in the lineup got some legit protection, so they actually saw hittable pitching...they woke up, too.
They are a great story...and, honestly, it wouldn't at all surprise me to see them take home the trophy....

Best of luck to Mattingly. He deserves a better team to coach.

Unfortunately, I think he might end up with the Marlins....
I agree, he deserves a better team. I'm just not sure there are any, right now, hunting for managers. Detroit, maybe. The Red Sox, come around mid season, maybe...but i can't see him going there. Ummmm..........the Nationals?
