I'd like to see the Cubbies make a run... its only been 107 years...

And, you know....there's the whole "Back to the Future 2" thing predicting it.

But I refuse to adopt a team that might be going home tomorrow.  I just dealt with that.  I'd like to get at least 3 more games out of my rooting interest, this time.  rant

A best out of three Monday Tuesday Wednesday really is the way to go... that's not just sour grapes from me...

Look at the game tonight... these two deserve better than a one game take all.

I really like the way it is set up now.  In fact I would be a fan of getting rid of the wild card completely.   Baseball is one of the only leagues were the regular season means something

They will never get rid of the wild card however

They will never reduce the amount of regular season games either

I do see them adapting a best of 5 for the wild card.  Then a best of seven for all other rounds

The problem with monday is...monday night football. Mlb goes out of its way to avoid it.

Honestly...i think you toast the divisions, entrely, and just take the top 6 teams. And you could do a best of 3, home field for all games for team with better record..

One game elimination just isn't "baseball", to me. Not in a sport where even the reg season is built around series.

Well i'm glad to see I am not the only one who thought that strike zone was atrocious.

Nope, tim. And it wasn't just your eyeballs (or mine). Pitchfx clearly shows astros were given a large zone, and yanks got squeezed..a lot.

Yeah, both the Jays and the Royals are looking at "must win" games in game 2 (which, you know, is the way it works in a 5 game set).

The Royals, IMHO, have the most to worry about.  Cueto has not been lights out since the trade, and they are essentially depending on him to save their season.  Because if they lose, they are looking at facing the Astro's best pitcher, IN HOUSTON...and that's a recipe that most teams have not solved this year.

If I'm the Jays, I worry about the fact Price lost...but that offense could easily explode for 10 runs in Game 2.  Donaldson is good to go, today....and we'll see about Joey Bats.

Interesting, interesting Game 1 results for both series.

Just a quick public service announcement:

After today, I'll probably be MIA for a week plus.  Try not to miss me too much.  The baseball landscape will probably be radically different when I get back. Smiley

Looking forward to taking my 6 year old for the first time next summer.

This weekend, I get to escape to vegas with my brother and watch all the games... can't wait.

Bacon.. looks like Donaldson is good to go today... that would have been a tough one.

If the Royals go 0-2 and have to face Keuchel in an 0-2 hole bye Royals plain and simple.

I'm still watching the jays/rangers game. Good game! Jays just missed a walk off by 2 ft....twice..that inning.

Can we fire that home plate umpire now or at the end of the game? There is no reality in which that was strike 3.

Again, the strike zone seemed terrible, and variable, all game. For BOTH teams, but still.

And the Jays lose 2 in a row at the worst time possible. They have to go to Texas and win 2...a tall order, for sure.

I'm not sure if it was even 2 feet. It was literally at the wall.
