You're welcome Tim, pilferk, and Jaeball for the Sox taking 2 of 3 from the Jays over the weekend. It feels dirty helping the Yankees out, but they still have work to do.

Yanks HAVE to take at least 2 of 3 in Toronto, or it's pretty much over, barring an EPIC Jays collapse to end the season.

Potentially scary comebacker to start the game. Luckily Price snagged it. Typically i wouldn't be happy about making an our but that looked like it would've hit him in the head had he not caught it and i'd never wish for anyone to get hit with a line drive.

Yadi out with ligament strain in his left thumb, reevaluated in a week - not good.

The Cards can reload anywhere but there.

Fuck.

Definitely not news you want to hear with the playoffs two weeks away.

Well that game was over fast.

Given the first inning, it was actually a suprisingly close game.  Absent that one TERRIBLE strike call in the Gardner at bat, it might have been a lot closer.

Still, watching this Yanks offense can be massively frustrating.  If they lose tonight, we can pretty much start focusing on the wild card.

The Jays are 12-5 vs the Yanks.  That's pretty much the entirety of the reason they lead the division. Being +7 vs the second place team, with a 3 loss lead in the standings, pretty much does it.

Saw a report this morning that says they're going to reevaluate next week...but they THINK he'll be back for the playoffs.

ALSO saw that Wainright has been cleared for baseball activities and is going to come back and pitch out of the pen, at least by the playoffs.  I'd say THATS pretty good news for the Cards.

Yogi..I have to tell you, wherever you are, you were wrong. It may be over, but it will never, ever, be  really over. Your legacy....as a player, as a father, as a war hero, and as a philanthropist will live on.

RIP, Yogi. You were trully one of the greats!!

Just heard about Yogi this morning, what a great life he led.

I listen to STL radio in the morning, KMOX has been running tributes throughout,

A great St Louisan, a great Yankee - a great legacy.

Sad day for the Berra family... but you truly could not have lived a better, longer or more fulfilling life than Yogi did.

As for on the filed... MUST win for the yanks tonight if they have any aspirations of winning this division.

I have no faith in Nova keeping the Jays under 4 runs.

And THAT pretty much wraps up the division for the Jays, IMHO.  3 Loss lead with 10 to play, for them.  They would have to have an EPIC collapse. They also have an 8 loss lead on a playoff spot...so its an absolute certainty their playoff drought will end.

Yanks have a 5 loss lead with 11 to play in the wildcard (both overall and for home field in that game).  They have a tiny bit of work to do, but, at this point, I think they can start focusing on that, rather than looking at the division. Hopefully they can wrap up home field in the one game playoff BEFORE next weekend, so they can rest some folks and get their rotation and relievers in place.

I'd bet, provided his hammy is better, Tanaka gets the ball in the one game....and, if they win....I think Severino might get the game one start in the Divison series.

Best thing for the Yanks is if the Twins and Astros are battling til bitter end.....
