Big statement by the Mets with the sweep of the Nats.  And what an impact Cespedes has had on the offense.  Good news that the release clause in his contract was waived so now the Mets can negotiate with him during free agency, though sadly I doubt the Mets will be shelling out the cash it will take to lock him up.

Huge statement indeed, great games.

I'd be wary of Cespedes long term, he's worn out his welcome wherever he's been thus far.

He's played great for so far, no doubt about it although the NL MVP chatter about him is absolutely bonkers.

I think his rep among former teammates is solid, but I'm more wary of whether this past month is an accurate reflection of how good he is.  This past month, and to a lesser extent this season as a whole, he's been one of the best players in baseball.  Before this year though, mostly good but nothing great.

Agreed on the MVP talk.  As great as he's been, his impact has been somewhat overstated in that it ignores the major difference made by Michael Conforto's call-up in July, plus Travis d'Arnaud coming off the DL at around the same time.  Then on top of that, you had David Wright returning to the team, which has been a huge lift.

Nope. Smiley

Postponed. They are going to play a single admission "old fashioned" double header on Saturday.

Says the guy who's big power hitter has missed games for turf toe and a strained thumb ligament. Wink

Damn AL pussies, Bob Gibson pitched on a broken leg. Grin

All kidding aside (well, the pussy thing, Gbby did pitch on a busted leg), I hate seeing guys go down period let alone in the middle of the stretch run.

Mets extend their lead to 8 1/2. Anyone here think that race isn't over? I think it is game set and match Mets.

Something has to be physically wrong with Nova fuck! No way he's this wild with his pitches normally.

Yankees Stink!!!!!!

Go Jays baby!!!

They do this weekend.

Since Tuesday, things have pretty much gone as bad a possible for them. From Eovoldi, to Tex, to the rain out, to ALL THREE starting pitchers laying eggs in important starts, to the middle relief deciding it was vacation time with games still left to play.

They'll be lucky if they can hold on to the wild card at this point.  It's looking really ugly.
