Moncada to the Sawx for 31.5 mil.

Hopefully they give the kid a bit of time to adjust in the minors before throwing him into the fire.

He's going to be fun to watch progress.

Would not surprise me one bit to see the Sox put together a deal for Hamel's now, they've got the prospects and plenty of payroll flexibility to make it happen.

No biggie for me really, tinkering that may knock a few minutes off.

They're not going to last very long, because broadcasters aren't going to shorten their commercial breaks, and they're not going to miss pitches. MLB, and it's teams, are not going to want to lose a dime of revenue, either. So the rules are going to go bye bye pretty quick. Or at least they're not going to be as exact as worded. Which means almost zero effect on game length.

I'm with Timothy. ENFORCE the rules on the books before you make new ones.  Make the pitchers actually come to the plate in a reasonable amount of time.....

Yep, the rule book already states the pitcher must deliver within 20 seconds or a ball will be called. Also, it states the batter must not leave the box and if they do a strike is called or something to that effect.

It's ridiculous. Anyone can hit home runs in bp. Look at Boggs. He was known for hitting homers in bp. In games? Not so much.

Apparently the yankees are furious A-Rod has shown up early? WTF is this crap? What does it matter when he shows up as long as he shows up and plays and doesn't cause any drama. I swear both sides need to just stfu already. It's becoming a soap opera.

As long as there is money to be made in keeping the games long nothing will change.

Apparently, protocol is to tell "everyone" in the organization if you plan to report early...and he didn't.  Or, at least, he didn't prior to yesterday morning.

He says he didn't really plan to report...he just wanted to use the minor league complex to work out, sort of unofficially. Something he's done before (and during his rehab).

They said, if he was going to do that, he had to "report" and take his physical.

Which is what he did.

The Yankees are such hypocrites with Arod... and not just him (although is exaggerated with him).. they treated Posada like shit at the end too because they resented how much they had to pay him those last two seasons.

As a yankee fan... I could care less about how much of a scumbag he may be... if he hit's 20 homers and drives in 80 runs out of the DH spot... I will cheer him the entire way...

If that's what he did i don't see the problem.

No clue yet Tim, some of the STL media has mentioned sports hernia but it's all speculation for now.

Today it was 102 swings with 5 out of the park.

Fucking SERIOUSLY??  Hey Olney...if your big news of the day is Arods BP happenings...maybe it's time to leave ST.  I'd much rather know what's going on with Wainright, or Miggy, or a hundred other hurt or returning or up and coming guys.

Next, we'll be hearing about the corn in Arods poop.

I try for the most part to not post much of anything written by Jon Heyman (because he's a horrifically bad writer and a nutswinging Boras mouthpiece) but this article is actually worth a look.

DISCLAIMER: It's ARod centric....

No, it sure wouldn't.

On the bright side, it's early and no diagnosis has been reached.

On the reality side, the Cards are infamous for downplaying injury so who the hell knows...

Just saw Josh Hamilton has (possibly) fallen off the wagon and is meeting with the league office in NYC, very unfortunate.

I've always rooted for the guy, such a great story - his HR Derby display in the Bronx a few years back was so damn cool.
