Just announce him gone already.  Why would GNR want to put up with his crap?  Maybe they think announcing he's out without a replacement in mind would hurt them....I'm not sure, but I really don't see how?

Nor I.

No one on the planet even gives a shit about this band besides internet nerds like us.  And to us, stepping up and sacking him would be seen as good, not bad.

Should not even respond to this ludicrous troll bait, but I'm going to assume you are as clueless here as you are about other aspects of the band, marketing, producing, managing etc. ad nauseum-

There are many, many people that attend shows and follow the band, buy albums- who do not belong to one, much less multiple forums online, and they do not constantly moan, complain, and pretend to be experts on virtually every aspect of GNRs.

They are fans and care but don't follow the band on the internet.

Shocker, huh?  Kiss

I'm quite sure he meant that people outside the forums for the most part do not care who is in the current band if it's not Slash and Duff... who is in their stead does not matter  ... they go to the shows to see Axl Rose sing Guns n Roses songs.

Because... people like Axl Rose a lot...

But no one outside the GNR fan bubble.  No one but already committed lifelong Axl Rose fans are even paying attention anymore.

Thus, I can't really see the argument that announcing he's out without having a replacement to name hurts them.  Hurts them with who?  The only remaining people that care would applaud the move, not shit on it.

Because then you announce there's a problem without a solution to it.

Like: The refrigerator is broken so all your food is now spoiled.
But if you say: The fridge broke, we replaced it and nothing was spoiled. Then you've addressed it and fixed it.

Exactly.

I don't agree with this at all.  Just two quick points I will make

1). The unwashed masses/mainstream people still care quiet a big what Axl is doing and then just by default they care about what guns n roses are doing....   Like you have said, if Axl was to pick u the phone and do a rolling stone interview.  He would instantly be on the cover.  People would read

2).  As per the mainstream not caring about the band members now......   Mb that's true for some of the members, but look at the established fan base DJ has.   I ahave been at concerts were people have been there just to see him!!   Just the run GNR gets from his fan base makes him being in the band worth it.  Other band members have other bands they play in that also have a great fan base.  Look at tommy in the replaments...   People care about him

Bonus point round

3). Also some of guns n roses biggest fan bases are in developing/third world countries.  Or just countries that the Internet is availbable everywhere.   To say that the only people that care about this band are on the Internet is complete garbage   When a large magority of there fans probably don't even have the Internet

And you think GNR fans would shit on this move?  I don't.

We had been in negotiations with Ron Thal to continue as a member of Guns N' Roses. We had been unable to come to terms with him, and in light of recent comments he's made indicating a level of unhappiness with his role and the band itself, we have decided its best for both parties to go in a different direction.  We thank Ron for his contributions to Guns N' Roses and wish him the best in his future endeavors.  We will now return our focus to completing the next albums and hopefully being able to get back on the road to see Guns N' Roses fans all over the world.

Done and done.

No one is going to shit on that.

Then don't take it so literally.

The overall main idea here is that there is next to zero crossover appeal to Guns N' Roses in 2015.  If you are in the fold, you likely have been for 25 years now.

Yeah but we all know the fridge is broken ha... so we are just waiting for the super to come and fix it now ... I know waiting isn't a strong suit for a lot of us "in the moment type" fans.... haha

I think there are also two groups of what's left of GNR fans.

#1 - People actively interested in the current band and want to see new material from them.

#2 - Fans from back in the day that will see whatever Axl is trotting out on stage and roll with it.

There is obviously overlap in the groups.

But I think its beyond a stretch to suggest everyone buying tickets in 2015 is doing so out of a total love for the current band and their future.  I would reckon the vast majority of folks in those buildings are in group #2.  They would outnumber both group #1, and the overlap, in my opinion.  Maybe outnumber #1 and the overlap groups combined.

Now if DJ was to leave the band.  Those people that I ran into at a guns n roses show just to see DJ would not be there at a guns show if DJ left.   Or mb since they had such a good time at the show they would be a show without him in the future....  but, they never would of been there in the first place.  If it was not for him

Now if guns can't bring back one of the older guy to two over guitar duties.  There next bet for success would be to get a guy with an established fan base like a Dj etc....    Guns gets the run of bringing in new fans.  And if guns does a good enough job, they may just make some new fans and keep them

That's a ridiculous analogy.  When they replace the refrigerator in a year or whatever and announce it, the food will have spoiled.

I am in both "camps" ( an GNR online favorite term )... Most people here are. Some are just new era fans... One in A Million who has been MIA was always my favorite new lineup poster. Hope he is good. He was easy to debate with...didn;t get so personal.

With all due respect... does he really have that big of a following?  How many people go to a GNR show because they are a fan of ONLY him?

I am sure you met a few at ur show... but let's be real.

And you think GNR fans would shit on this move?  I don't.

Of course. Track record. But then again, I'm using the phrase GN'R fans were liberally here.

If there's no release date or update on the album for everybody's liking, there'll be lots of this:  crying from certain so called fans.

That's a ridiculous analogy.  When they replace the refrigerator in a year or whatever and announce it, the food will have spoiled.

Well, the whole analogy wasn't that literal. It was more about, you don't announce a problem only, you announce a problem with a solution when a solution is needed. For example, Richard joining the band was announced just in time for the August 2002 tour. Nobody knew about it before that.

There are also "old fans" who developed deep attachment to players from CD... I am not one of them... Robin would be my favorite of the group tho.

The main difference is that in 2002 there was no facebook and twitter where nothing remains a secret for more than a day... If it did exist.. we would have all known Huge/Tobias was out the day it happened.
