Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal Interview (Guns N' Roses) - The Double Stop Ep 48

Feb 15, 2015

Here's a new interview with Ron.  He talks about his early years of playing....living a very musical life, happy as hell.  Then I took a detour (laughs)...but I'm back on that original track I was on. @19:05

New single from AOA in April or May, album release middle of the year.  They will tour if there is a demand from the fans.

Robin's move made very little sense to me, leaving when he did.

Like entering a marathon and quitting at the 25 mile point.

Who endures all that bullshit then skips the payoff?

Only makes sense if he thought the finish line would be pushed back once again.

This was always my suspicion.

So, in a way, I'm sure it was a kick in the ass to see a release only a year after he left.

But, and this gets back to what I said earlier, do you think he looks at thigns since the release and thinks he's missing out?

Personally if I was a few of these guys that have there blood and sweat to help write the album. Then slot of what they did got changed.  Or didn't come out sounded as they thought it would of got layered too much and over produced.  Shit, I would be pretty choked   And if anything else regarding the whole process I could see this pissing them off the most

There haven't been any 'bad blood' between anyone in GN'R and Robin after his departure as far as I've seen.

It could be a possibility in the future I guess. How many times has he re-joined NIN for instance? Robin seems like a free spirit who goes where the wind takes him.

So then if Robin rejoins guns.  What parts is he going to play?  Wouldnt be pretty strange if he rejoins but is the only one capae of playing buckets and rons parts.   And dj plays the parts robin wrote.   Now that would be funny.

Richard is capable of playing the Bucket/Ron parts.

If Ron leaves, and the rest stays the same - and if Robin joins in, Dj could handle the rhythm parts while Robin/Richard could be on lead.

Don't you figure DJ sees himself as a lead though?

He has said in the past that he sees himself as a songwriter first and a guitar player second. Not sure how much that aspect matters to him.

This is of course a hypothetical situation. But if Robin were to replace Ron, it would only be natural that Robin played his own parts from Chinese.

Yes, he lists himself as "Lead Guitarist of Guns N' Roses" on his Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.

Another interview with Ron, prior to going to Thailand.  No GN'R mention...

Richard is capable of playing the Bucket/Ron parts.

I was positive he said once upon a time that some of Buckethead's parts were beyond him, and thus Axl bringing in Bumblefoot instead of staying with Richard and Robin.

He might modify the parts a bit I'm sure, but based on what I've seen, Richard is the most technically proficient between him, Robin and Dj.

Ya it's all stupid

And yes, I don't have my kids tonight and on the vodka.  But....

It's stupid

We are replacing band members after band members.

Not giving past band members credit for the great job they have done.

Robin can't fill bucket or Ron's places

But either of them could fill robins spots.

Every member brought something different

So ya, I am sick of bringing players in to play other players spots."...

We have enough ex lead guitar players....  Bring one back      Pay him lots.    Give him creative rights.     And that's it

Bacon... the more you drink.. the better you post!  beer

IF Ron is replaced... I do hope its a former member ... basically ... just Robin... because he plays on the records... How he would fit in the live setting with DJ and Richard... I don't know enough about how that would fit...

Buckethead probably has communicated with Axl less than Slash has over the past 10 plus years... so he is not an option.

I am not going to copy a link.. because I don't want to offend either party.

But there is a screenshot of a post Ron made on his facebook stating that his silence on the GNR matter is to honor a request that he not say anything publicly, and that it's not his way to stay silent or repeatedly bite the bullet.

Take that for what you will.

Hopefully whoever made the request that he not say anything publicly, makes an announcement soon.  This has gone on long enough.

Well, in a way, that's positive.  Addresses the elephant in the room.

It shows he's not treating us like complete idiots.

Well if you want to believe that the band is on a break with no plans and once plans for a tour are made then we will hear something

Then if you want to believe what Richard said, that guns has no plans to tour anytime soon.....

So then this break, will be going on for while and I also don't think we will ever hear about this Ron situation anytime soon. If ever
