Ok even if he isn't out of the band yet.....

Why would guns, the band members and Axl want this guy in the in band.   He has no respect for the band or the music.  Thinks it's all a joke.

Yeah, agreed.

I think he's been gone for some time.  But I'm with you, even if he's not, how do you keep him after this?

I have wanted to give this guy the benefit of the doubt... because I suspect management was not easy to deal with ...

but after this... cant defend him... if he hates GNR music... then i want him gone.. yesterday...that goes for any of the other guys too.. if they don't like playing GNR music... please stop cashing those checks

Nobody...

Tommy and DJ have a following because they were known musicians from known bands prior to this. Ron and some of the other guys...nobody ever heard of... and nobody would have ever heard of them if not for being selected by Axl.

Lot of moving parts here.

First and foremost, let's not pretend his criticisms are not legit.  They are very legit.  That said, this is a bush league move.  Certainly after you've had no problem cashing their checks for 8 years.  It didn't take 8 years to deduce this band moves at a snail's pace and they weren't terribly interested in anything he had to say creatively.

Secondly, the live show is fairly fucked.  Unless DJ gets way better, way quick.

But most importantly, and most importantly by a country mile, this is tantamount to an act of war.  He's pissing right in Axl's face.  If you don't think every single note Ron Thal has played on any as yet unreleased GNR song is coming off of there, you are kidding yourself.  We spent all this time hoping he would be included.  But now we have to go 180 degrees and hope that he truly was kept out of the loop, because it will only slow everything down now.

I agree on the first two, not to knock DJ but by all accounts hes just not capable of doing the same things with a guitar that Ron can... but not the last part... there is no way to know if his parts will be or wont be included on the next release (whenever that is). I don't think Axl would take away from the material just because he's pissed at him.

I do hope to get some clarity on what the future holds soon... because the longer it goes without who will be on tour... the crazier the reunion whisper is going to get, and while that makes for good water cooler talk..it's also tiring ha.

I can't say I share that take.  Axl Rose is a lot of things, but a turn the other cheek guy ain't one of 'em.

By all accounts, Bucket and Robin left for the same reasons, but they never trashed them publically.  Ron most certainly has here.

Bucket and Robin were also far more involved in the material's creation than Ron ever was.

Yeah, agreed.

It doesn't take the reunion people long to whip themselves into a frenzy.  Ron gone, DJ with Sixx : A.M., Tommy with The Replacements.  REven though none of that is exactly new information, very possible the reunionists try and make a "perfect storm" type argument.

Then throw in Slash's birthday tweet?  I shudder to think.

Ron is interviewed in Thailand. He jokes about not having to play with them anymore (GN'R) and no more of this song (SCOM).  That the "reign of doom" is over....in the first part of the interview....

That is true... Robin and Bucket would'nt give you a quote about GNR if you put a gun to their heads...

There have obviously been hints of this for years.

My question is for the people that defended him so vehemently, despite the repeated warning signs.  Do you feel foolish now?

The worst part is he not making an official announcement to his fans ...

Yes.  Will people admit he's really out now, or are they still standing firm on "the band's on hiatus so there's nothing to be out of/wait and see until the tour happens" position?  Once it was cool to bash Ron here (which has been for some time now) it was clear he was out.

Agreed.  You could read between those lines, I thought.

I'm disappointed with this situation. I  had thought Ron was much more cooler than this. I guess not.  Goodbye, good riddance then.

Let me explain a few things here.

First the alleged bashing. No bashing is allowed.
If somebody was/is upset/angry/disappointed about the situation, it's natural that some of the emotions expressed will be seen as bashing.

Just like some are inclined to spend years pointing out that there's no new album, some will be pointing out that they don't agree with or like this situation.

I think the so called defending was partly common sense. There's no activity, so everybody is out doing their own thing. No big deal. Once there's something, you regroup.
But judging by this comment, and obviously there's a chance that he was making a silly joke, it seems like he's not interested in anything GN'R related in the future.

For a guy who's got a gig as a guest of a GN'R tribute band, I thought the comment was kinda ironic. I might be wrong, maybe they won't play a single GN'R song during that show!

Would you buy that, personally?

A claim he was just joking?

Because I don't know for sure, I'm not saying yes or no. The whole interview clip was kinda silly.

But yeah, even if it was a joke, it was not the smartest comment to make. Way to alienate the GN'R fans.

Yeah, that's my take too.

Are GNR fans really going to find this all that funny?  I mean, maybe if he didn't have a history with this crap, but he does.

These strike me as the words of a man that has arrived on a new land and burned the boats, eliminating the chance of a return voyage.

I think at the begining he had respect. But he should?ve left a lot earlier if he was disappointed and frustrated. Instead the guy decided to stay for the pay check while moaning all the time. Even in this interview with that Indiana Jones And The Temple of Doom or SCOM, that song put the band on top of the world, a song that the whole world likes.
