A lot of bands spend 15 years making an album, suggest the followup could be released around the same time the following year, then wait another 7 years to not release a follow up album. Not unique at all. Only people operating under mistaken entitlement issues would find Guns N? Roses current situation abnormal.

Guns N? Roses aren?t like other bands. Guns N? Roses isn?t Burger King. They do things their way, not your way. Their way of doing things just happens to be not doing things. If Guns N? Roses was Burger King, your food would be cold and moldy and you?d probably get food poisoning and diarrhea then maybe have to go to the doctor so he could prescribe you antibiotics, which would cost you some cash, especially if you don?t have health insurance, but it?s better than persistent diarrhea.

So all things considered, we?ve got it pretty good as GN? R fans, because they?ve already graced us with some of our favorite songs/records/shows, and waiting for more songs/records/shows sure beats cold, moldy food, food poisoning, diarrhea, doctors visits and medical bills.

That?s not the issue here. We don?t have any oficial announcement about a new album this year. I don?t understand why people are so sure we?re going to have it.

And it?s silly to blame it on someone?s departure or  somenone?s new arrival because we?ve never been told by Axl that we will have an album in 2015.

Well, we are obviously speculating.  But only doing so based on what we've been told.  Its not like we're just making shit up.

If you spend an entire year "seriously taking a look at things in that regard", only to not do it and just go back on tour to play another round of "Democratic Appetite For Chinese Destruction"...well, you looked at it and decided not to do it.

I think a lot of us are hoping that's not how it goes.  And if we are operating under the premise this is a viable operation and a serious band, a release is what would happen.

Vegas New Year Eve, the new band on stage performing a few new gongs, then RIR 2001. And yet we didn?t have an album until 2008. I guess he needed 7 years to seriously taking a look... People have the right to believe in Santa Claus. I only believe it when I have it in my hand.

What's the difference between Robin and Buckethead's departures versus this? Well the two had writing credits on the album and were big part of its creation.
Also, in those cases it seemed like nobody knew what was going on. In this case, it's been clear for quite some time that Ron isn't focused on GN'R.

Oh, and those of you who used this thread to turn it into yet another Dead Horse topic. Good job. We all know the album is coming sooner because of your endless positivity! Cheesy

Bucket and Robin's departures were far more of a loss.  I think anyone would say that.  They were very actively involved in the creation of the material.

But, if you want to use them as a guide, then you are saying Ron is gone.  Which seems likely.

ANYONE who has followed this band knows about the endless list of guitar players who have quit/moved on and it's very easy to see why one would worry Ron leaving could also further delay the next record. I am sorry that seems too difficult a concept to grasp.

You just go sit quietly in the corner, mister.  Silence is golden.

Its an obvious concern.  The history is what it is.  This band never seems to miss an opportunity for a scapegoat for inactivity.

No excuse is needed.

Poor you, the band doesn't operate on your expected schedule.

Boo hoo.

And that might be relevant, if that was something I said.  But since I didn't, it ain't.

The reality is that there aren't a lot of examples of them saying that despite <insert setback here> all systems are still go and it won't slow us down.

It goes the other way, typically.

There is no release date set, period. That is a fact. That is reality. How can something be delayed if it has NO release date?

Well i have been hearing from Axl since day one that they wanted to release multiple albums back to back

I have been hearing from axl that they have multple songs already recorded

I have been hearing from axl one they released CD that the following year they wanted to release another album. The second half of Cd

Well you are right.  Axl has never come out and said on march 15 2009 u are going to get new material.   He has stated all the above.  Which would give one ghr idication that new material wouod be coming soon.

The worst is.  He has said all thayand then no indication as to why we havnt seen anything.  No press.  Now chats.   Just nothing.   Something wouod be nice

Who has said there was?  Has that happened somewhere?

What is being said is that is not only outside the realm of possibility, but actually very likely, that the next time they are asked where things stand, the answer will be that everything got cocked up when Ron left.

Look at the history.  It supports it.

Yawn, history also would dictate that leaks would be rampant before a new release.

Sometimes history is not an accurate predictor of current and future events.

Get a new schtick, this one is beyond boring.

Well, he said he wants to focus on his solo career this year.... So I'm assuming that's what he's going to do.

And that other band with Scott singing on the album, and he's apparently a member of the band even though he doesn't wanna be involved with them on a possible tour. Wink

lol

thanks for the chuckle

only here is a concern about a departing band member of 9 years (who everybody hates all of a sudden) possibly derailing plans  equate to excessive whining and entitlement issues

ah well... not gunna lose any sleep over it

Well, if that is your rationale, then that doesn't bode well for any GNR touring this year, does it?

If you are trying to argue that he's still in the GNR fold, just not when there is nothing going on, then there really can't be anything GNR related going on anytime soon.

Yes, we are aware that he is the singer on the album.
But reading his comment, it does not seem like he's that keen to be associated with the band at the moment. While the rest of the band love the association for obvious reasons.

If this was a Bumblefoot solo record with Scott as the guest vocalist, less people would care. But "new super group with Scott from STP and Bumblefoot from GN'R", suddenly there's more interest.

If people bought tickets to Weiland's upcoming shows and they're reading "Weiland just joined a supergroup", they're going to assume he cancelled his tour and want a refund. It was just bad timing and didn't sound like they talked about it as a band.

People might say it's no big deal but it could have put a dent into Scott's tour plans.

I'm not arguing anything. Just stating what he's said.

To put it bluntly, in his words he's not focusing on anything GN'R related. He's pretty much been saying similar things since last year. It's not a shock or surprise to anyone. Should GN'R make plans for shows during the year, I'm sure they are aware of what's going on.

That's why this is totally different to past guitar player situations.

And same thing if he puts out a single to radio and does interviews. He's wanting to focus on his music, imagine being asked about that side project he did last year....

Why do I what? Think it's weird that a band is announced only to have the singer wash his hands of it and then the guitar player says the singer is in the band, until they tour, then he'll be replaced?

You seem to understand why Scott would downplay his involvement in the band at the moment.  He has a debut album coming out, a tour scheduled, he's doing press for The Wildabouts.  That's his focus.

But then you keep pointing out that Scott doesn't want to commit to touring right now.  Probably for the reasons above.

Yeah, because the timing of it all makes no sense from his point of view!

To me his comment kinda says he's not into the project at all. He did it, it's done.
Of course you can say "oh, but you don't know how much he'll want to do that in the future". Yeah, and maybe Bumblefoot would like to focus on GN'R in the future.

Scott really seems like a flake.

Are you telling me there is no other singer in the world for all these super groups then Scott....
