but whatever it is, I'm finding it hard to believe this in any way will improve the odds of a GNR album release any time soon.
I don't think GN'R is influenced by this in any way. Why would it? If he's on the album, his parts have been done already.
/jarmo
I guess I'm just looking back in time and seeing they had Bucket leave in...'04? It took 2 years or so from there to find Bumblefoot. Then, it took 2+ years from there to get an album out.
If Axl wants to replace Bumblefoot...who's to say it won't take another 4+ years until there's another album?
Bucket's parts were done back when he left...and it certainly didn't help move GNR towards the release of CD.
I love GNR and always will...but Jesus Christ they make it hard sometimes!
Maybe they already have another guy. Or maybe they decided they don?t need 3 guitars. The things is the band has been a revolving door. We have to keep in mind that anyone can be replaced at any moment with or without an album in making

Well I guess we jumped the gun a little bit... if this band has no immediate touring plans.. I guess then its not really an obstacle for Ron touring with GNR this year if that happens.
(I still think he's 100 percent not touring with GNR tho)
I liked the clip of that first song...but im a fan of Scott's voice, so not surprising.

We didn?t. It is not our fault if BBF is acting like idiot. He made a statement about a new band with Scott Weiland. He made it sound like he was gone from GN?R and focused on this new band. Now Scott has denied his envolvment with that band beyond helping them here and there. They are not his band. And most likely they are not BBF band either.

First the press release claims the members have sold 150 million records (!) and now Scott says he's not involved in the band....
Sounds like Scott was paid to record, did it and has little interest in continuing with the project.

Scott is probably pissed off at the timing of this announcement since his own album is about to come out. So he wanted to clarify.
Well regardless. I am very interested in hearing these songs . I like Scott/ and would love to hear what Ron contributes to it.
Unfortunately we are still no closer to a definitive answer on Ron and GNR's future concerning who plays guitar

Ron posted the press release. John Moyer posted this:
Big announcement today at noon. A new project that I have been directly involved with for over a year now will be unveiled.
It is my pleasure to announce the band Art of Anarchy. Members include myself, Scott Weiland, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal, and introducing twin brothers Jon & Vince Votta. The full length record is done and will be released in the Spring of 2015.

Exactly. He is releasing the debut album of his new band in March, the first single is coming out later this month. He's out doing press for the album. He wants the focus to be on The Wildabouts.

Scott made it clear he is not a member! He said he worked with them. But he has other band and other plans. If other people who are part of that project lie about what he did in that band I don?t blame him for being pissed off. Some people from that project exagerated a lot or just flat out lie about a few things . And BBF played that silly game as well.
That band or whatever that thing is wanted attention and promotion and they got it. Good job! Now as far as I?m concerned they can go fuck themselves. And BBF too. I?m sick of him and his neverending soap opera with GN?R

Everybody is Team DJ now lol
One of ron's contentions is he hates DJ right? I know that theory has been floated around.

Yeah, I think (read: think, not fact) that one of his gripes was how tight Axl and DJ were. DJ's made comments about sending song ideas to Axl and working with him on material...and Ron has always been on the outside looking in.

Again, Ron posted the press release. So did others in the band.
No one lied. Nowhere does it say that Scott is going out on tour with the band.
Scott wrote the lyrics and recorded them for the upcoming album and did a couple of videos as well.
Scott is promoting his new project, album and tour right now. He wants the focus to be on The Wildabouts.
We're talking about Scott Weiland here. He said in a recent interview that he would be open to a Velvet Revolver reunion and when the DJ says "you heard it here first." He backed off saying he is promoting the new project he is launching. The Wildabouts.

The press release makes it sound like a band. Not just a studio side project. It's somewhat misleading.

Depends how honest you wanna be. But considering the misleading album sales number they used, maybe honesty isn't a top priority?
Creative writing, sure.

Yeah, we don't know.
The timing is weird. Scott didn't seem too thrilled with the press release being out at this moment. Obviously since it interferes with his solo plans. But how about Ron? I thought he was focused on his solo career? Or is this just a way to get some more publicity ahead of that? I mean, once his album is out, are people gonna be asking about that band with Scott? Or will it already be forgotten by then?
Wouldn't it had made more sense after Scott was done with his solo stuff, and possibly available to tour with this? Unless, that was never his intention, as it seems by his update.
They announce a band and album, then hours later the singer says he was only involved making the album and videos.
Weird...

Since the press release didn't mention a tour, I don't see it saying "Scott only made the album and videos." I think Scott's remarks caught everyone by surprise.
The sales number was obviously a mistake.
I don't think they were trying to being dishonest.

Ok, Axl recorded a song for Gilby?s first ?lbum. Was Axl a member of Gilby?s band? No!!!
Marco Beltrami colaborated with Axl to make CD. Is he a memeber of the band, was he ever a member? No!!!
Just because Scott and BBF recorded with them that doesn?t make them members.
BBF when posting the press released neither confirmed nor denied about being a member. So anyone who reads the press release could easily believe that BBF has joined that band. He made a mistake by not being clear about it. Or may be it wasn?t any mistake. He had something in mind and he meant to generate confusion. Scott made it very clear he is not a member. Sure maybe 5 years from now he may end up being the frontman. But now he is not envolved in that Project. In fact he said he hopes they can find some one else. It doesn?t look like he is desperate to be that band?s frontman.

Yeah. Whoever put together that press release obviously gave Bunblefoot credit for the hundred million or so albums GN'R sold.
STP sold about 40 million. So suddenly the press release is less impressive.
/jarmo
The band also has the bassist from Disturbed. Not that I'm a fan, but they've sold over 30 million and he played on four of their albums. Both Disturbed and STP are pretty big on their own. Plus VR. Add in Chinese numbers for BBF if you must and whatever other projects these guys have done and it's probably somewhere around 100 million even without GNR's back catalogue. Not that big of a deal. I'm actually surprised Weiland isn't more into this project, even if it sounds dangerously close to Army of Anyone in name (Richard Patrick of Filter + the rest of STP). I didn't think he was getting much reaction from his stuff with the Wildabouts.

Ron seems to think he's in the band. You're saying he's not?
We're not talking about recording a song, or a collaboration. Scott wrote the lyrics, sings on the entire album, and did videos with the band.
We'll have to see how involved he is in the project once he's done touring the new Wildabouts album.

Disturbed plus STP makes about 70 million. Less than half of what they claim these people have sold.... Besides, the bass player joined the band later on, so he shouldn't be credited to albums sold before he joined.
I just think whoever wrote the press release wanted to make the band sound bigger.

I wouldn't be surprised if Axl will probably want whoever replaces Ron to contribute parts to the next album in the same way he wanted Ron and Frank to contribute to Chinese' after Buckethead and Brain left. That could set the new album back a few months, if not a year.
