I've met Ron a bunch of times and always found him to be a wonderful guy. Nonetheless, his indecision and lack of confirmation with regard to his status with Guns' has grown incredibly tedious. He really should make a decision not just for himself but so the fans can move on and Guns' can find a new guitarist sooner than later if needed.

On one hand, it's possible that he's not wanting to make a big deal out of it. On the other hand, it does keep people guessing which creates more interest in whatever is going on.
Promoters keep referring to him as a GN'R guitarist and he keeps referring to GN'R in the past tense.

I'm sure GN'R knows what's going on, they're just not in a hurry to make "empty" announcements. Compare to the Robin -> Dj situation. We didn't know Robin was gone until they announced Dj had joined.

Exactly, we'll likely hear about this when there's a replacement in the wings.  Even if the next album comes before they start to tour again, we'll likely still not know Ron's official status.  When Chinese came out, Axl was all about which players were on the album, rather than focusing on who was in the touring band at the moment.  His focus right now seems to be wrapping up the next album, and I'm fiiiiine by that.

My guess is that Ron's negotiating.  He's not any different than any other band member in that his current status in the band is irrelevant until he's needed for touring and/or recording. But I think the reason that he's the only one being coy about his current status is that he's sending a message that his previous contractual terms won't be enough to lure him in the next time they need him.  He probably has certain demands and will agree to be there for them in the future if those demands are met.

That would be a risky tactic. Look what happened in 1996.....

Wow, that is bizarre.

Who leaves an actual band and goes and plays in a tribute version of that band?  It's like 'Rock Star', but in reverse.

Ron and Frank have played with them before.  And yes, it's a little bizarre....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TT1bi0kN3ME

I don't blame Ron for not formally announcing anything if hes definitely gone.... I would think that's the bands responsibility to the fans more than his.

I agree.

tis true...pretty obvious Axl isn't afraid to play hardball. Plus, he is holding a few more chips than Ron.

Do you think if Robin or Buckethead or Paul wanted back in the band as a fulm time touring member they would be allowed back in at the expence of one of the current players?

Hopefully they share it with the fans soon.  It's been months of speculation now.

i miss the days where bands wouod have a stable line up   With this fans could bond with members in the band

There seems to be way to much turnover in bands.

There never used to be all these side projects either....   Are muscians being forced into all these side projects be because there main band isnt paying them enough?  Or record sales are not as strong as they used to be?   I dont like it

The above is not totally directed at guns.  As I feel we actually have had a pretty stable line up    For many years.   But the fact that you have a guitar player in the band playing up all this drama and the band refusing to talk about it brings a form instablilty

^^ Things do appear a little unstable, but then again, that seems to come with the GNR territory (as far as legal issues, band members, the controversial direction of long awaited follow up albums, trouble getting music released, Axl doing things his way without compromising his vision, etc...). It's been some dudes in an old pick up truck with Axl at the wheel hauling ass down a dirt road with an unsecured barrel full of nitro in the back since day one. No one knows where the dirt road is going but him, and just when you're certain that he's lost in the backwoods somewhere he makes a hard right through a mass of bushes and pulls out into a best buy parking lot. I bet Axl will be carrying around that barrel of nitro with him on his electric wheelchair someday. I can see him now, riding down the sidewalk with it in his lap singing "And darlin' when I hold you, don't you know I feel the same!".

This is the most stable line up the band has ever had, the longest period without  lineup changes was from mid 85 to mid 90 thats five years. in a couple months Dj will have his 6year guns n roses member anniversary

The fans are interested in who is in the band.  It's not that hard.  Imagine if they weren't. Roll Eyes

Nobody "needs" anything.  Don't be ridiculous. Tongue

Food isn't a bonus. You need it. Trust me.  ok
There's a reason why people die of starvation...

You don't need to know who's in GN'R at this moment though. Just focus on breathing, drinking enough water and eating properly.  ok

My point was, I have never once seen one person here, of the so called 'whiners', who have said they 'need' information like this (same with info on the album, also). Same with Emily's 'self-entitlement comment, which she reiterates on a daily basis. I have never seen anyone claim that they are 'entitled' to this knowledge.

Hence, straw man.

Then again, a lot of us do eat, drink, and breathe GNR...so some hunger pangs, periods of dehydration, and difficulty breathing should be expected.

Straw man, straw man, straw man... "You people" like to throw that phrase around a lot don't you?

You don't need to say it. It's kinda implied in the whining, that obtaining this piece of information is somehow a crucial piece of the puzzle, that is your existence in this universe of straw men and whiners.
And yes, I exaggerated and generalized a bit there.

Well, I can only speak for myself but can I just clarify, obtaining information about a rock band is not an essential need, an 'existence in this universe', possessed by myself. In regards to Ron-gate, it would merely offer some, clarity, to a confusing situation - and would probably help the band (and Ron) themselves.

We are merely discussing a rock band here, not, a cure for cancer or warfare in the Middle East.
