My guess is

Scenario 1.
Ron has left the band.

Scenario 2.

Ron has said to the band sometime ago that he is going to concentrate on his solo career and not work for band June 2014-Jan 16 ??and after that lets see if he still wants to continue.

I agree, it's obvious, so why not admit the obvious?  You don't wait for the season to start to learn who's on your team.  IMO, same concept applies.

Imagine this: So and so left the band. Thank you.

Then what? What would change? You can move on? Why not just move on and wait until there's something to say.

Agreed.  No point in shooting out a release announcing a departure when there's nothing more to say along with it.  And lets be honest, Bumble doesn't have half the following that Bucket, Slash and even Robin had.

A simple announcement announcing a GNR guitarist's departure and nothing more would be met with 99.9% ridicule. They're not dumb, they know this.  So there will be something to talk about when there's something to talk about...

I think Axl owes it to everyone on this board to personally visit each of their homes and tell them whether Ron is in the band or not.

On a another note, ive been wondering for a long time how would the newer songs work live with a seven piece group with two guitar players (line up ? la 1998-2000)

But why is everyone (Ron, the band, management) being intentionally vague on this?  Who are the current members of GnR?  It?s a very simple question.  You?d think there would be a very simple answer.  My take:  Ron?s contract expired (I?m assuming the members are contract employees) and he has not re-signed.  Allegedly, he?s removed all references to GnR from his social media accounts (I say allegedly because I read that somewhere and I?m too lazy to fact check it) so that gives a pretty clear indication that he?s not in the band.

It does matter because you want to know who?s on the team, regardless if they?re touring yet or not.  Saying, ?just wait to see who?s playing at the first show? sounds absurd.

Well Ron made some sort of announcement. He deleted all information about GN?R on his twitter and Facebook. His profile only says "solo artist and producer" it doesn?t even said former GN?R lead guitar player. Just nothing, like it never happended.

I guess he could change his mind in the future. But what are the odds?

I think HBK gave the answer in this post (below) as to why no announcement on Ron's status in GNR has been made.

I'm guessing that since Ron made contractual obligations promoting himself as "Guns N' Roses" that he won't formally submit his resignation/announce his exit until those contractual obligations are satisfied.

And again guessing, since he hasn't quit or was fired, technically GNR can't stop him from promoting himself that way.

And as a promoter, wouldn't you rather be promoting "of GNR" rather than "solo artist/producer"?

Even if he quit or was fired now, I think any contract signed before anything was official with GNR would fall under some kind of "grandfather" clause (he was in GNR when he signed those contracts).

Sure using the words Guns N Roses sells tickets. Gilby and Matt Sorum have been doing it for years. I mentioned what his social media profile looks like now because there are people who want an official announcement. Well, you have an official announcement when you check Bumblefoot twitter or Facebook accounts and you don?t find the words Gun N Roses anymore.

I have found the sentiment that Ron has been ungrateful to GNR to be quite amusing...

GNR is always praised for speaking their mind and doing it their way...

But Ron spoke out about what he wished for GNR...and he is "unloyal" and "airing his dirty laundry"...

My biggest concern was his departure would delay things... but it sounds like thats not a concern really.....  some clarification would be nice though.

I think what has cemented it for me that he's gone is the level of anti-Ron talk that has gone on here from some people...calling him ungrateful, unloyal, etc.

Bad mouthing current band members is verboten here...former members, game on.

To be honest, I don't think anyone outside this dojo cares if Guns N' Roses announce that some guy named Bumblefoot is no longer part of the band.  So yeah, maybe in the forums it matters, but likely not in the grand scheme of things.

Either way, I think getting Chinese Democracy II (or whatever it's going to be called) is going to close a lot chapters in a lot of fans' books, myself included.  In other words, Ron's continued participation as a touring member is not keeping me up at night.  Whether we hear the next album soon, that's another story.

I was watching some videos of Orianthi, and she's like a female versi?n of Slash (like DJ). She's a great guitarrist but I don't imagine to GNR.

In fairness.... We all discuss Ron at nauseum because he is the most vocal player... but there have been rumors about Frank and Tommy departing also... and that nobody is contracted to play anymore.

Tommy is even more plausible because of how he chose to play with The Replacements... and we all know there is a verrrrry suitable substitute for him ready to come back full throttle.

The touring band could be very different come the next show despite who appears on the album if its released at the same time.

Oh, agreed.

But it puts we fans in a shit spot.  The perception amongst people is that this band is dysfunctional, unprofessional, and all fucked up.  I know the fairytale around here is "most stable line-up ever!!" but if you want to talk about things that only play in this dojo, there you are.  That's a laugh line away from these boards.

How are you really supposed to refute some of the criticisms of the operation?  But telling people you don't even know who is in the band?  That certain band members can't get a call back in 3 weeks time?  Are these strong arguments this is a well oiled machine?

Now, you only come to this board, and literally never anywhere else, you insulate yourself from all of that.  You can find a few like minded travelers to parrot that all is well and the band is the envy of the music world.  Venture to a different URL, or god forbid, the general public with any of that?

Good luck.

I hear you, and you're definitely not wrong in your thinking. Personally, I've just come to peace with Guns N' Roses post 2000 essentially being the 'Axl Rose Show'.  And I'm actually really cool with that.  Hell, dude is my favorite vocalist of all time.  Point being, whether it's Buckethead or Bumblefoot....Tommy or Duff....Brain or Frank....Robin or DJ, if this train keeps rolling, it's always going to be whatever the hell Axl wants it to be.

So am I itching to have Fernando or Del write some release announcing Ron's departure?  Nah.  I just want new Axl Rose music and shows.

Same thing happened with Robin. Some feel let down. It's natural.
He left without a word.

I guess this is your way of ridiculing the fact that many bands would love to be in the position where GN'R is. Something you can't seem to acknowledge. In your mind nothing is good and nobody could be envious of GN'R. Nobody claimed the band was the envy of anything. That's just your usual bullshit. It was just pointed out to you that your idea of horrible would be amazing to some others.

Many people who post here, when asked, are able to think of possible reasons for anything. You seem to lack this ability and just keep posting the same "it's not working" mantra.  hihi

I was watching some videos of Orianthi

Because somebody posted her name on a message board?  Huh

All true.

It just gets annoying to read how everything is swell.  Or, my personal favorite, "they don't have to say shit if they don't want to".

Super answer.  Why even have the discussion with that mindest?  About ANY topic, not just GNR.

Sorry, was not my intention to say that Dj is a female version of someone. It's just my bad English.  it's better if I say: "female version of Slash (or DJ)"

Because its nonsense.

If you want to tell me that some other band wouldn't be opposed to the brand awareness that Guns N' Roses still has, I'd obviously agree.

That was also built 25 years ago.  No one is looking at how things have been run since 2000 with any sort of envy or desire to emulate.  The band from 2000 onwards started on third base and is still trying to get that run home.
