I don't want to dwell on the stage time too much because it hasn't been an issue in a long time. I just think Ron bring it up all the time ultimately had an influence.
Yeah current management has made a lot of progress.

If not for Ron's complaints, who do we have to thank for the improvement on stage time?
How about the one you blame?
/jarmo
Ron, along with others in band (I know Tommy had complained in the past), as well as fans I'm sure all possibly made Axl look at things differently. It's not like Axl himself one day just woke up one day and said "I'm gonna make some changes" with nobody influencing those decisions.

You might be right, maybe when a different set of musicians felt like it was absurd.. he must have said to himself... I need to improve on this.

Or it just happened and you want to give credit to everybody except the guy you like to blame for it....
If I tell you every day that I don't like cold rain, will you thank me on sunny days for making it stop raining?

Well we have no power over mother nature. We do have power of will over our own behavior. But besides that you?re right. He needed to change his behavior because money talks.
If people working at the venue must work extra hours due to late performance. Then they get extra money. So that money ends up in the workers pockets instead of going into Axl?s and the band?s pockets. Neither Axl nor the band wanted to earn less $$$ due to lateness
This was one big issues during the UYI Tour. You can learn more on this issue in both Slash and Duff books

So there is no need to let the fans know who is currently in the band. Until the next tour is announced?

I would say yes to this. Only is this band was only considered a touring band. Or Ron was just considered a touring member Or Ron's replacement will just be considered
But all I ever hear is that how almost every member of this band contributed to the Chinese album, so they are not just touring members
So.... What gives then....
As fans of the band we don't even get to know who is in it? This is crazy

Axl... good job for improving on ur start times !
Better?
I don't care when he takes the stage... I know going in..its best if I don't have any plans the next day...
but I have always found his lateness or reasoning to be like come on dude.....if it's for a show of some kind that he HAS to be there for a certain time (like an award show, benefit show or festival)... he manages... so if he can do it those days... he could be on time for any other concert... he chooses to not make it a priority... no matter how you spin it.. again it's ok by me...like people always say... i wan't Axl at this best... but to the person who it makes mad... I completely understand

As for Ron..
I don't think the band owes us an explanation...and certainly there is nothing to really be gained by announcing anything.. but some clarity for the die hards on the boards would be nice...
We all know that the GNR camp and Bumble are very aware of the discussion going on around here

You want an update about who's in the band while the band is on a break and the members are out there doing other projects?
Think back to the past. We found out Richard was in the band because of the August 2002 tour dates. Same thing with Ron, May 2006. Dj was announced as being part of the band in 2009. None of these were announced the day the previous guy left.
There's nothing new about this, except that it's 2015 and everybody's on social media wanting to know everything.

I guess I don't follow the line of thinking, it doesn't matter who's in the band unless they are on tour.

It's more like, it's not extremely important for the world to know who's on holidays from the office since they're not at the office.

FYI: It depends on their contract with the promoters and the venues.
Typical boiler plate contract...no, that would not be true (and, before you object: Yes, negotiation could change that...I'm just telling you what's typical). The venue is responsible for their own overhead...not the band. The crew typically is paid for the gig (flat rate), rather than an hourly wage. There's exceptions (there's a few of the roadie positions that are unionized..and some of them are typically paid hourly, by contract), but....the "band" likely wouldn't cover the overages, the promoter would (and they would have no recourse, unless specifically mentioned in the contract, to deduct the money from the bands cut).
The headlining band typically gets a flat fee, cut of gate, cut of merch/concessions. Opening band gets flat fee. Promoter gets cut of gate, cut of merch/concessions. Venue gets what's left. If the band chooses to run their own merch tables...the venue gets a cut of that, too. Typically the venue pays the promoter who pays the band(s) and crew.
All that's negotiable, but that's boiler plate. The fees and %s change, dramatically, based on how "big" you are and how good your promoter, and manager, is at negotiating.
Having worked at a venue, I never saw an act have to guarantee to cover OT for an event. There are certainly curfews built in to many contracts, but typically violation is a small penalty (which the venue has the right to enforce, but rarely does) and the venue withholds the right to pull the plug if they so desire.
The only shows I've seen have to even carry inordinate indemnity for damage to the facility, performers, and audience are wrestling shows (WWF, at that time). There's certainly stuff in the boilerplate contracts about legal responsibility for willful or negligent damage to the facility, etc. But WWF actually had to carry an additional policy to prevent the venue from being sued if a fan,or a "performer", etc were hurt as part of the show, as well as an additional policy provided there was facility damage during same. Weird, eh?

Maybe that's where it's at. Figuring that one out.
Since there's no details on when people need to be back, there's no real need to make decisions at this moment?

Just playing devils advocate... but wouldn't they need to know if hes back right now because supposedly they are working on a new record?
Or is it just that Ron would not be involved in that process anyway?

Depends if he's needed for the recording.
Richard mentioned in that guitar clinic video interview that he's worked with Dj on stuff, but nobody worked with Ron..... I wouldn't be surprised if Ron recorded stuff back in the day that hasn't been released.

If Ron is out of the band, is it really going to make a difference if we are informed now or later? So what is it that everyone needs to know the answer at this very second in time? It's not going to make any difference. I guess it's human instinct to want to be the first to know everything. This is how TMZ stays in business
