I agree with sofine11 about Paul Tobias. I was shocked seeing the writing credits on CD and how involved he was.
I rolled my eyes BIG TIME hearing
"without Paul there would be no Guns N' Roses"
at RIR III. Seeing the credits, I get the point Axl was making.

Paul was also instrumental during auditions and studio time with band. When you consider that Axl was absent a good portion of the time, his job must have been tireless. I'm curious as to whether he'll have writing creds on the next album.
Ron did mention not too long ago that he had never met Paul Tobias. I wonder if he and Axl are still close?

I have this feeling that once Richard joined the band, Paul wasn't around very much
The album was pretty much written by this time, so I am not sure what Pauls contributions to the band have been from 2002 forward

Agreed. It seems like the lion's share of writing and recording was done from 98-03, including most of what's on the next album, so Paul was likely not needed as much, especially after Richard was around to help with recording.

Oh man, if it turns out Ron's leaving AND that causes a delay for the next album, then dang... shame on you Ron. I guess its his life though, so he'll do what he has to do I suppose. I kind of feel like at this point the fella may be sensitive enough to us fans that he wouldn't crank the diarrhea dial up to that extreme, especially when things are this far along (at least I hope they are far along, for my own selfish reasons of course
). I know, he doesn't owe me anything. I would really like to get my grubby little hands on that next album though!

The "band" that created CD already no longer exists.
Which "band" is that?
Axl Rose - present
Buckethead - long gone
Robin Finck - more recently gone
Paul Tobias - long gone / was he ever really in?
Tommy Stinson - present
Dizzy Reed - present
Brain - more recently gone
That's the creative force behind the album.
As I said, Josh Freese wrote many of the drum parts and has a writing credit on the title track. That's part of the creative force don't you think? Yet that line up isn't known to us since it was a studio only band.
Now, if you prefer that line up to present your idea of what created the album, then it's different. It's an opinion. Not a fact.

Josh said in a interview that he wrote three songs with gn'r. One of them being Chinese democracy, and the two others went on a b-list or c-list.
Josh has become one of my fav drummers all time, bummer that hes time with gn'r was so short.

Let's see if he changes the "2006-2014" to "2006-2015" on his social media sites when new years comes around.
That'll be our first clue. The whole thing is pretty hazy right now I think.

It is frustrating yes, but it would have been worse if GN'R had anything specific scheduled right now and the real line-up of the band was uncertain. We have already experienced that a couple of times (2004 and 2006).

You can look at that comment two ways...
Its both frustrating that we don't know whats going on with the current line up
And Its also frustrating that the band has nothing specific schedualed right now

I'm not that frustrated about no confirmed gig-dates or release dates at the moment really. Everything points in the right direction for next year, I'm sure
something
will happen.

It does look like the planets may line up next year and we may get both new music and a new tour
BUT
With that said its been a pretty frustrating few years waiting for new music.
If you just want to be frustrated with just a guitar players position in the band, have at it.

Not
that
frustrated about that really. Like I said, it would have been a different story if they had gigs coming up and parts of the line-up was up in the air.
Remember Buckethead in 2004? Kind of the same situation (though we don't know the outcome for Bumblefoot yet).

I agree, I get a little frustrated at times too, but I've realized it only happens when I start spending too much time obsessing about it. A while back in one of these threads somewhere Jarmo mentioned to someone that if they were as casual about GNR as they were about other bands then they might be better off. When he said that I immediately thought of myself and how irritated I get whenever I start desiring the next album. Back during the wait for CD I used to see Axl as the cause of my irritation and I kind of resented him for it, but ultimately after carefully observing myself go through the motions over and over again I realized I was doing it to myself. Definitely not trying to give advice to anyone here, just sharing my own little bit of insight on the subject.

Its ok to be frustrated over things in life. It shows that you have emotion for certain things. Hopefully people have a healthy balance in there lives
The problem is when this band does good things, people still seem frustrated... The band cant win at times with some, so called fans.
I am frustrated with many things this band does, but I think it was a pretty strong year for them.

Yeah, being frustrated about GNR is kind of like being frustrated about the weather. I still do get frustrated about things from time to time though.
The more I think about it, this whole Ron thing is pretty silly. If you can't say anything then don't say anything. Why throw all this weird vague shit out there? He knows full well that this kind of thing drives us nuts. I suppose he has his reasons. I wonder what it is that makes Axl (clearly the man in charge of what can and cannot be said) not want to communicate with us fans a little more. Is it all to maintain the element of surprise or a certain level of mystique? That is something I would like to ask him about if I ever had the chance. I know it keeps things interesting when everything is a mystery, but when the only people that care (about the little details) are hardcore fans then would a few tidbits here and there really make that much of a difference? I'm not talking a reality show or anything, just opening up to fans a tiny little bit more. Maybe fans have burned him in the past or something and he decided that he wasn't going to play with us anymore?

I do not agree..
The weather and guns n roses are two different things... hahahaha
Well being frustrated at the two are two different things..
I have time invested in the band. I don't have time invested in the weather. To me, time is worth more than money. So I feel I have a right to feel frustrated.
In regards to Ron... He knows HIS biggest fan base is the online community... He is probably online way more than any of us... So he knows what is going on. It is very unprofessional on all sides actually. Doesn't Ron have a manager that can speak for him... At least when Bucket left, we knew he left...
BUT
I did just break out my old Les Paul the other day.. Jet black gothic and I am practicing again... Tan is also looking good, so my stage presence will be great. I may have to try out for this Ron spot..
