I honestly think Ron knows the speculation around the fans about his status as a GNR member (speculation that he fueled) and does this kind of things on purpose, just for fun. Technically, what do you expect him to put there? 2013 would be false. 2015 would be a nonsense. 2014 is... the truth...

No, what you'd expect him to put is a "-", as in (2006 - ).  That tells you he's still active.  If true, it's a weird way to announce your departure (instagram, really?).  He, or management, could easily clear things up, but until then, we're left to speculate what it means, kind of like his countdown tweet.

Yeah, I guess this cues up another round of denial and "technically...*technically*, I'm saying..." sorts of rationalizations.

How is this thread still up?  We were told during the tour he was leaving after it, but around here we just stuck our fingers in our ears and didn't address it.

Well, from a fan outreach standpoint, its a bummer.  Ron always did seem very good on that front.

But in terms of the band, what have we lost?  That may sound harsh, but hear me out.  Axl never gave him a chance to show us what he could bring to the table musically.  All we ever got of him was live bootlegs of him playing 25 year old songs. 

So if someone else takes his slot in the live touring band...what really changes?  When DJ replaced Robin, at least Robin had been in on creating the new album.  Ron was not.

Several people at the forum who's name we dare not speak were told as much.  But as per usual, we didn't acknowledge that over here, as its not what we wanted to hear.

Their track record with "breaking news" is spotty to say the least, but I still felt it was a relevant topic.  And sure seemed to be a situation that was created out of the blue.  Was shut down the few times I tried to bounce it off the folks here, however.

The fact we are openly talking about it now leads me to believe it no longer unfounded dangerous speculation by non-true fans.

He sure didn't seem happy these past few years.

Since they never wrote a note in his 8 years with the band, I can't see how this slows down any progress on a new album.

I wouldn't get too caught up until we here something official. Ron was great during the meet n greets, but I personally didn't like his public complaining, either way we'll see what happens in the future. Again I wouldn't be too pressed either way

Guns facebook quickly shotdown the Axl's retiring rumour (i almost fell in that one, what a relief that was)

My three cents, there could be something going on behind the curtains, (taking a break from the band, new contract,  something new(or old) happened) i dont know.

But the day someone is in/out of the band, we will hear it from the source in a decent time.
So i'm not that worried either.

I personally have no issues with anybody mentioning any other GNR fan sites. Whatever policies other sites have, that's their problem.

Seems we must face facts and the best guitarist GN'R has is, likely, out of the band.  I can't possibly fathom who will take his place, though I couldn't do that with Bucket either.

Theoretically.

Though one wonders if now anything Ron put on any of the tracks will be redone.  I'd actually say probably not, because Axl has shown he doesn't have a problem releasing things with guys long out of the fold.
