I still can't wait for "Chinese Democracy II". I wonder how much Ron will featured on that, or if this decision will affect that.
Perhaps he knows what's intended to be on that. And if he's not a huge part of it, he didn't have much interest.
It was probably about on par with his involvement on Chinese, probably even less. He always lamented the fact that the next GNR album would likely be the rest of the Chinese era tracks. Once it became clear that this was, in fact, the case he was gone baby gone.
I wonder whether Jarmo will post this in the News Section. Doesn't he usually report Hookers N' Blow, Pisser & Dead Daisies news/shows?

I didn't even post about Sixx: A.M. and Dj never said he was gonna focus on that band instead of GN'R...

Can you really blame him?
You join a band that has no desire or ambition to create new music at the moment. You will have to wait out the release of a bunch of material you had nothing to do with.
Its then 2 and half years after you join before anything comes out. 6 years later, you are no closer to a second release. But even that is just going to more stuff you had nothing to do with. So you would be looking at, best case, have it come out next year. Then maybe, *maybe*, 5-7 years after that, the "band" you are in might get around to releasing something you helped create with the rest of the people you share the stage with. That's if those people are even still in the mix.
Frankly, he showed more patience than most.

Whatever this news brings for GNR I would still hope 2015 is productive for GNR...
2015 could be all about celebrating GNR and really delivering some big exciting things.
- Remaster of all albums. This is long overdue for AFD and UYI 1 & 2. Led Zep has done fantastic with their recent remasters and more is still to come (Doors, Nirvana, CCR are all good examples too). Can you imagine AFD or UYI re-entering the charts with something as big as this? Each album would benefit but especially the classic albums. Include demos, alternate mixes, concerts, etc. How about early CD demos?
-Open the concert vaults. Dig deep for new bluray concerts from all eras and have them available either as a download or physical disc. So many classic shows to choose from: Ritz, HOB 2001, UYI tour compilation.....
-Announce a new world tour and Vegas residency. Either tour with existing band, or introduce Bumble's replacement, or bring back some of the old members. Have a website where people can vote on songs to include on the show they are going to.
Bumble leaving, or not, shouldn't be a huge deal breaker for GNR. So many possibilities.

Anyway is funny that he says that he wants to be more focused on his solo effort, that if he had to choose between Guns and his life he would choose his life, and then he joins another band.
Well maybe he will be much more valued in this band? And won't have to deal with Team Brazil not returning his phone calls? (he said that, not me)
whether its a solo record or a band... whats the difference? if this new band makes him happier
And he can probably schedule both projects so they don't conflict. It really seemed to bug him that he would set up his solo tour only to have GN'R schedule some shows at the last minute and he'd have to cancel his plans.

These all sound awesome.
But, this is a lot of looking backward. Axl doesn't really seem too keen on that. Its hard to see him being excited by any of this.

I agree... all of that would be terrific.
I have never played the guitar... but people say that DJ and Richard could not adequately play Rons parts during the shows... So that would be the biggest hurdle facing the band when they play again.

It's a definite concern.

I don't see it is a looking backward. It celebrates GNR as a whole. There is much good stuff from all eras that should/could be released.

Yeah one would think in this situation he'd have a more active role in the planning of what the band will take part in, so that he can coordinate with his own plans if any.

It took Bumble like 4 tour legs to get Bucket's parts right, and he's a known shredder/guitar guru. As far as a Ron replacement goes once the tour engine starts up, it's either beg/bribe/kidnap Buckethead, or find some other unknown guitar prodigy to take his place, with the latter probably being more likely.

I'd buy a shitload.
Any decent setlist I never had. And any concert I did have that was not soundboard.

Ex-STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, GUNS N' ROSES, DISTURBED Members Join Forces In ART OF ANARCHY
ART OF ANARCHY, the new band featuring Scott Weiland (STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, VELVET REVOLVER) on vocals, John Moyer (DISTURBED) on bass, Jon and Vince Votta on guitar and drums, and Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal (GUNS N' ROSES) as co-guitarist and producer, will release its debut album in the spring.
