Just A Monkey In The Wrench

« Reply #200 on: February 19, 2014, 11:30:21 PM »

Try being a 28 year old Stones fan.  If you clap too loudly you run the risk of upsetting the guy behind you at one of their concerts.  It's unreal.

So true.  I've seen the last several tours all the way back to 'Voodoo Lounge'.

I am often the only one in my section that knows the new songs.  It always seems like everyone around me, the last album they bought was 'Some Girls', and the latest tune they know is 'Start Me Up'.

The friend I took to the last Stones show I went to last May is a huge fan, and is a pretty eccentric guy.  When they started playing Rocks Off he started dancing around, singing along.  The guys behind us were furious.  They were like "Sit down man! These tickets were expensive!!"  They were furious that someone interrupted their staring contest with the stage.   Roll Eyes
Thats crazy.
I have also been there in a Stones gig where they play a song like rough justice and the whole stadium just stops breathing and asking each other whos cover is this. really bizarre. well thats what happens when you go to see a concert that 1 in every 10 people wants to see .

I thought 'Voodoo Lounge' and 'A Bigger Bang' were very solid.  'Bridges To Babylon', I felt was not quite on that level, but good.

Sadly, 'You Got Me Rockin' is about all you might ever get a concert now, of all 3 of those albums.

We're going to already be in Vegas on May 21st but we have tickets to another Vegas show on the Strip, it runs from 8 - 9:30 PM. Any idea what time GN'R will be hitting the stage? IIRC they didn't go on until after 11 PM during the 2012 Las Vegas run. We're hoping to be able to go to both shows so a late start for GN'R would be a good thing for us. Also are we expecting a 3 hour set?

I may be going out SOLO to one of the shows, would that be crazy? or would some fellow forum members meet up?

Not at this point. Doors are at 8pm. Then maybe an opening act...

Thanks, I bought tickets. Hopefully GN'R doesn't hit the stage until after 10 PM.

For every GN'R show at the Joint that I've attended, there's always been fans hanging out hours before the doors open.

You won't be alone.

Who knows what 2014 will bring, but in 2012 the Wed shows went on about 11 pm or shortly thereafter, and the Fri/Sat shows went on about midnight. I would guess it will be the same but ultimately your guess is as good as mine. For my Fri/Sat shows I am assuming a midnight appearance to about 3 am or after. It's so rock n' roll in the sin capital of the world. Gotta love it.

A bit of advice to my East coast friends.  Try to get to Vegas a day before the show you are seeing.  In 2012, I went to a show the day I got there.  Since it ended at 3 AM, my body felt like it was 6 AM.  Yes, I am old and I got tired.  This time I am arriving a day early to get adjusted to the time zone difference.

You can get all sorts of good deals on and off the strip. I love the Hard Rock!  Best part of this residency is that I can see a future with no snow and ice!!!!
